Denys
He studied the cat in front of him. He had never seen an adult that was so small. He reached out and touched that scar on her shoulder, the same one that she had in her human form. Where a bigger cat had scratched her. The cat watched him but didn’t stop him. Her tail twitched and she moved to nudge her head against him. Her eyes were still blue, and she was studying him.
“Change back Mel.” He said softly.
She rubbed her head against his, the soft fur tickled his skin. The cat shivered and Melody reappeared. He touched that scar on her shoulder. It was unusual for something to transfer between the two forms. This time she did pull away. She looked upset for a moment, then she settled down beside him. Her arm moved to hug him and she put her head on his shoulder.
“You will have to tell me one day Mel.” He said. She shook her head.
Melody
He dropped it. The next few days were like he had never even asked about her scar. She stepped out of the shower and studied the ugly mark. It still even hurt sometimes. She sighed and wrapped herself in a fluffy blue towel that he had bought just for her. She went to their room to dress, pinning her damp hair up out of the way. Denys breezed in as she changed, unpinning her hair and laughing at her annoyance.
He sat on the bed and took her hand, pulling her down onto his lap and kissing her.
“We are going out tonight. Ill get Saera to take you shopping.”
Melody shook her head and Denys kissed her nose gently. “I promise Saera will be nice.”
She frowned and stood, making sure that she hit him with her wet hair and she turned. Denys laughed easily again. “I have to go to work. Saera will be over soon.” He left before she could protest further.
Denys
He was bored. The elders had welcomed him back and immediately went into their drone of advice. Orys noticed him fidgeting and chuckled. “Mayhaps we should wrap this up, I fear that Alpha Denys is still recovering from his brush with the fire?”
Denys could not have been more grateful to his father’s best friend. He nodded. “Please, I feel I have to leave… There is just one more thing that I need to discuss with you all…”
Melody
She hated shopping. Saera, it turned out, LOVED it. Her feet hurt from being dragged around, they seemed to go into every single shop. Saera was fun enough to be around though and Melody enev felt herself enjoying the day, though not the shopping… never the shopping.
They got home as the shops started to close. Denys was sprawled out on the sofa, reading. He looked up as she got in and smiled.
“Go change.” He told her.
Saera picked a bag up. “Ooooh, you should wear this, and these.” She pushed a shoebox into Melody’s hands too.
“Wear your hair down, please?” Denys added.
Melody c****d her head in confusion.
“We are going out and I want you to sparkle.” Denys told her. He looked to Saera, “Do you mind helping her?”
Saera grinned at Melody menacingly. “Not at all.”
Denys
Saera had done her job well. Melody was always beautiful, but tonight she was breathtaking. Saera had picked out a stunning green dress and Melody even had her legs out, though hidden beneath tights. Her hair tumbled down past her shoulders but had been pinned so that the tumble was controlled. The driver picked them up and Denys spent the ride holding her hand.
“We are going to meet with the other Wolf communities.” He told her. “The other Alpha’s like to show off in front of our Lord. This time I get to too.”
She looked panicked for a moment.
“The Lord is aware that you are not of our kind. Do not worry Melody. He also wishes to meet you. There is nothing to be scared of, I will be with you all the time. The Lord needs to meet and accept any matches, and well… I want you to become part of my pack. I need his blessing to do that.”
Melody shifted nervously and stared out of the window. He was unable to read her face and he frowned.
“Mel… I want you to marry me.”
