Denys
Melody didn’t see him in that moment. Her whole body was tense and she struggled to stop herself crying hysterically. It only made her worse. Denys approached her like he would a wounded bird, slowly and carefully. She had shut him out completely and he could only try and reach her.
“Melly, my Melly.” He said softly, his heart in pieces at his lovers distress.
She couldn’t hear him. She caught herself in the corner of the room and pulled herself in a tight ball. He sat beside her and carefully pulled her into his lap. She didn’t fight his touch but instead went stiff.
Denys didn’t try and do any more to her. He just sat there with her on his lap, rocking her gently until she fell into an uneasy sleep.
Melody
She woke up at midnight. Denys wasn’t there and it felt wrong without his body around hers. He was rejecting her, just like she knew he would. She could hear the TV on downstairs. Her heart ached at the thought that he didn’t want her anymore. She slowly got up and went downstairs. Denys was watching something, his eyes were almost too focused on the screen.
Denys
He could feel her there. When he glanced over she was staring at the floor, at her feet. His jaw twitched.
“Can I help you little Cat?” He asked, fighting to keep his voice even. He wanted nothing more then to pull her into his arms and hold her to him. He didn’t want to scare her though.
She sniffed and he stiffened. ‘Do you want me anymore?’ She asked him in a tiny voice.
He nodded but kept his eyes on the screen. He felt her move closer to him and he glanced over. She was scared and it was him that was making her so.
“Come here Mel.” He said slowly, opening his arms to her. She immediately landed on his lap and he carefully wrapped his arms around her. She looked adorable in his hoodie. She wriggled until he felt her nose touch his collar. “Tell me why you think I wouldn’t want you.”
‘Because you saw what I did.’ She answered.
Denys held her by her arms and pulled her away, looking deep into her eyes.
“Whatever happened to you in your past is not your fault. I love you Melody, my little cat. You had no choice in what happened, but I swear, it will never happen again.”
Melody gave a strange little whimper and buried herself in him again. Denys kissed her head.
“You are perfect little cat. Nothing will change that for me.”
Melody
He carried her back up to bed, cradling her close to him. When he put her down he was careful. She knelt on the bed, holding onto his hand when he went to leave.
“Mel… You need sleep, my love.” He said.
She knew that if he left then she wouldn’t be able to. She tugged him closer to her and gave him a gentle kiss.
‘I need you’ She told him. And she did. She needed him to show her that he wasn’t disgusted by her. She could see the conflict in his eyes. ‘Please’
“Mel… I don’t want to hurt you.” Denys said. “You aren’t… What you told me, it took a toll on you.”
Melody felt her lip wobble, and she looked down. Denys gently cupped his hand around her chin and made her look up at him. He pressed a kiss on her, but held her hands still when she tried to undo his trousers.
“Don’t Mel… not tonight. You aren’t feeling yourself.”
She choked on a sob and threw herself onto the bed, burying her head in the pillows.
Denys
He didn’t trust himself. She looked so desperate for him, and he wanted to show her that he loved her so much. He stroked her back as she cried. He knew that sleeping with her when she was feeling this venerable was a bad idea. She wasn’t ready. The solution came to him suddenly, and he changed into his wolf form, curling up beside his little lover. She hiccuped as she watched him, lifting her head slightly from the pillows and he licked her tears away.
He couldn’t trust either of them in his human form, but his wolf was a different matter, and he had spent days in this form before, one night was not going to hurt.
Melody didn’t seem to know what to think, but he put his head on her back and she eventually calmed down enough to fall into a deep slumber.
