Chapter 3 Hospital surprises

On arrival to the hospital Kay-k pulls up to the emergency area where a nurse just happens to be standing. As she jumps out the car Nathan is holding onto Micheal so he doesn’t fall and hurt himself any further.

Nathan opens the door and gets out holding Micheal, Kate has told the nurse what happened so she’s already organised a wheel chair. Nathan sits Micheal in the chair and pushes him in the direction of the examination room.

Little did Micheal know was that his father was one of the doctors overseeing the consultation… Micheal now all set up on the hospital bed with a drip in looks to Nathan and Kate before drifting off to sleep once again, this time though it was safe for him to fall asleep. Nathan turns to Kate-Lynne to apologize for everything.

“Hey Kate-Lynne, Listen I’m terribly sorry about everything!” Nathan sighed, “I don’t know whats going on with me lately?” Nate rubbed his head and sat down in one of the chairs by the window.

Kate didn’t know what to say as it’s not her place to interfere. As she was about to approach Nathan and try comfort him, in comes the doctor and Kate’s hair stands on end as she hisses “WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE!” she was so angry she was loud enough to wake Micheal from his sleep. As he started to stir from his slumber Kate stood in front of him so he couldn’t see the doctors face just yet.

She turned around to him and he could pick up from her facial expression she was super pissed and upset about something. “Hey babes what’s wrong why do you look like someone has hurt you?” Micheal asks Kay-K. She moves her head slightly to look at Nathan and he’s as lost as ever. He has no clue what is going on in this room, she just wants to scream at this point. “Babe there is a doctor here who is going to examine you but I’m not sure if you’ll be happy about it?” Kate says slowly to Micheal. He looks at her and he gets this weird feeling something is off, when he looks to Nathan the poor guy looks as if he’s in some TV Drama and someone has given him the task of giving the bad news.

Suddenly Michael’s head and stomach start to hurt really bad and he feels terribly sick. He goes to lie down and sees none other than his father standing near the door in a doctors coat and file in hand. “NO, GET OUT RIGHT NOW!” Micheal shouted two nurses came running into the room. “DON’T TOUCH ME! Why now after all this time!” Michael sobbed. Nathan was by his side immediately making sure he was alright. Kate-Lynne on the other hand had dialed Leslie’s number to let her know what was going on. “Hi Kate what’s wrong? You don’t normally phone unless something is wrong. Is Micheal alright?” Leslie panicked through the phone, Kate could hear she was busy at work but she just needed her to know what was going on.

“Hey Aunt Lez listen we had a bit of a problem at school, Mich got hurt today, so I’ve taken him to the hospital…” Kate just managed to get it out before she heard Les gasp, “WHICH HOSPITAL?” Leslie shouted, not that she was shouting at Kate or anything… “Grand Medical Hospital, Why?”  Kate asked. Leslie, who was at her desk sorting through documents at the time, had to sit back and take a deep breath. “Kate you need to take Micheal out of that hospital right now, His father works there.” She sighs and continues, “If he knew or saw him it’s going to bring back so many painful memories.” Les whispers.

“Too late for that, we’ve already seen him as he is the doctor attending to Micheal.” Kate replies. “Don’t let him touch my child, I will be there in 10 mins.” Les rushes out before she hangs up. Looking over to Micheal she can see him start to panic, “Mich listen your mom is coming now in 10 mins, she has instructed that NO ONE is to touch you until she gets here.”

(15 MINUTES LATER)

Daniel is still standing by the door going through some of Michael's charts and going over past records. He turns to look at Micheal like he’s examining him from afar.

“Micheal how many times have you been in to see a GP? It says here in your records that you see one, once a week.” Dan says in his doctor voice. Everyone in the room is now looking at Micheal to see why he has so many frequent doctor visits. “That’s none of your business Dr Ryan… you better watch what you say next.” Michael warned. “My health and well-being isn’t any concern of yours, you gave that right up the moment you stopped caring and left me and mom.”

At that same moment Leslie walked in and headed straight to Michael’s bed, she was so worried for her baby. She had already arranged a transfer out the hospital to Michael’s hospital “Hope Memorial Hospital”. Leslie leaned down and kissed her baby on the head, “Ah my baby, I’m so sorry you are going through all of this. We need to talk about all this when we get home.” Leslie sighed stood and walked back out the door to get a nurse to organize Michael’s drips so he can go to his Dr Parker for his check-up. 

As the nurse was attending to Michael and Kate was there to watch over him, Leslie decided now was the best time to talk to her good for nothing husband. “What do you think you are doing Leslie?” asked Dan Ryan as they both stepped out into the hallway, just outside Michael’s room door. “I’d like to run some tests on him before he leaves Said Dan. Leslie simply laughed in his face… “You will never lay a finger on my child, do I make myself clear… you left, you said you couldn’t do it. “being a parent” well tough! Deal with the consequences. "
