Becca hated two things: awkward silence and awkward conversation. She had to endure both as she stood on the grass in the parking lot with Gilberto waiting for Cyrus to return. Gilberto had been trying to talk about the weather, and she secretly hoped he’d tell her why he was being followed. But it wasn’t her business. “What do you think he’s gonna find up there?” Gilberto asked. “Hopefully some balls,” Becca said. “That kid has a lot of balls if you ask me,” Gilberto said. “I’m pretty proud of my brother,” Becca said. “But I get to make fun of him too.” Gilberto put his hands on the back of his head. “Sorry I put you guys through this.
