“Remind me what we’re doing here again,” my friend Sophie asked as I turned onto the narrow road that led to V Wilderness Adventures. “You are so not a forest boy. The only way I could get you out the door back when we were together was to entice you with a visit to the farmer’s market.”
“Not true.”
“Is, too.” Her mock scowl bored into my temple. “Seriously. Why?”
I shrugged. “I guess I wanted to show you how pretty it is around here. Maybe you’ll stop nagging me about moving back to Portland.”
“By taking me to the forest?”
“You love the fall. The colors are breathtaking this time of year.”
