Chapter Fifteen

1029 Words
LIZ'S POV Days passed and I was slowly retreating into my shell, letting Amma have all the fun she could with her new boyfriend and her new definition of true happened while my feelings for Will only grew stronger. I had not seen him in days and I was not supposed to miss him as badly as I did. If anything, I was supposed to be learning to forget him but I seemed to suck at it. The more I tried to forget about him, the more vivid our previous encounters with each other became in my mind. It was getting intoxicating and I was beginning to feel like I was trapped in my feelings for him and there was no way out. Greg and mom went for a small getaway, a two day mini vacation that they were going to be spending in Texas. Maybe Will learned of it from a source that I did not know and he showed up that evening. When I opened the door to him, there was a rush of inexplicable feelings that came to the fore. The irrational part of me wanted to jump into his arms and hug him tight, my lips planted on his, and his on mine, my hands wrapped around his neck in reckless abandon. But I didn't move when I saw him. I stood staring at him and he did the same. I had no idea what was in his mind. But when he spoke, his voice was achingly tender, and for the first time, my eyes moved past his face down to his body, to what he was wearing, how well dressed he was and how totally responsible he looked. It said one thing, he had expected to meet his dad and my mom at home. I knew he was no fool though. He probably noticed they were not around from the moment he stepped in and I didn't know how he felt about that. Was he happy that he would not have to face his father or have to endure his fussy step mother? Or was he simply glad that it was only the both of us at home and that would mean, we could have all the time to talk and fight, if he still thought that was about all I usually wanted to do with him. "Liz." He called softly. The arrogant, insufferable jerk was looking at me with tender loving eyes. Ones that were devoid of all haughtiness. It melted my heart. It made me want to jump on him. "I did not think you would ever have the balls to come here solely for my sake". I said dryly. Well, you do not know yet if he is here solely for your sake "It's good to see you. How long since I last saw you? A week? Two? Three?." I laughed despite myself. "I'm sure it has not been more than two weeks, Will." I said, opening the door wider to let him in. He came in, smiling goofily too. There was a relaxed atmosphere around us and I could not help but revel in it. He was everything I wanted him to be at that point. He was handsome in his white shirt and gray coat and black pants. His hair was styled back fashionably. He looked like he was attending an occasion. "Why did you dress up so much?" I asked when he was inside. He rolled his eyes. "I was hoping to see my dad and step mom. I thought they would be nicer if they saw me looking this way." I laughed again. "That is ridiculous. I'm sure they don't care how you dress. You are the same guy to them and I don't think any of these matter." "Kidding. Just wanted to come out a bit dressy." I nodded. We stood staring at each other for what seemed like ages and then his hand reached out and stroked my cheek. "Why have you been running away from me, Liz?" He asked softly and I felt my heart skip twice. He was being too nice and it was driving me insane. His voice was too soft and I was getting aroused just by hearing it. But I was not to say that. "Will, I have not been running away from you." It came out lame. He was not stupid. He knew I had been keeping away from him, trying every means possible to make sure we did not run into each other. Even the blind could see that and he was not even blind. "You don't sound confident enough in your small lie." His voice was so low that I had to strain to hear him. And with each heartbeat, he was getting closer to me. I was wearing only shorts and a big Tee shirt and beneath them, I was completely naked. I could feel my n*****s starting to numb and rub against my shirt and his eyes moved down casually to my breasts. "You are not wearing anything beneath your shirt, Liz. Your breasts are calling out to me." That was a murmur and his head was so low and close that his breath fanned my neck. I took in a gulp of air and stepped back, letting down my desires. I wanted to be engulfed in the heat that his masculine frame was emitting. To be lost in his arms and to damn the world while at it. But he smiled and stepped back. "Have you had dinner yet?" He asked, moving away from me suddenly, the mood totally ruined. I should have been relieved, but it was a jab of disappointment that I felt about it. He had brawn, hard biceps, beautiful abs that left everyone who ever saw them salivating. But I stood watching him as he took off his coat casually. "It was a bit too early for dinner one hour ago, but I guess this is just the right time to have it fixed." I said in response to his question. "Good. Be glad I'm here. I'll fix dinner once I am able to get out of these expensive clothes."
