Rain dripped from my hair. I had only waited under the eaves of City Hall for ten minutes when a black sedan pulled up steadily in front of me. The window rolled down, and Mr. Thornton beckoned me over. "Get in quick, before you catch a cold." I climbed into the back seat, and the warmth instantly enveloped my soaked, chilled body. Mr. Thornton watched me through the rearview mirror. "It's actually done?" I wiped the rain from my face with a tissue. "Yes." Mr. Thornton shook his head. "I always said that guy wasn't any good.
