The true nothingness, a formless dark lack of things which still exist. Something that has literally nothing, still has existence. A contradiction of not being made of any, not having anything still bearing and showing the only it has. EXISTENCE.
This is called void.
And a place where I stuck for a while.
First year, 3. month of the Great Pause 3.month
"Great, another black nothingness. My dreams only lead to that barren place." - Agreis
My name is Agreis, an artist who has been stuck in a strange world where the only thing you find is the lack of any. A pure black void. It doesn't matter how many times I have seen it. It was unchanged, empty. At first I only thought that I would only forget what I saw. To this day, I can't prove that it's not a fact that I do not hold a memory of it.
But
I don't believe that this is the answer for it. Now I'm at 2 months in that place. Not for a full time, just in my dreams. I would go insane if I were there in person.
After I woke up to the void makes his says goodbye, but never farewell. I tend to do what every citizen does, go with his daily life. Or would do if the Great Pause didn't occur.
"You got one mail form Kyreis"
This was my phone. This Kyreis, he is an artist too. More of a writer.
I should send a call to him.
*Ring*
"Come on." - Agreis
*Ring*
"Hi, Agreis." - Kyreis
"What is is Kyreis?" - Agreis
"Did you read the mail i send?" - Kyreis
"Kyreis, look at the time." - Agreis
The timezones, how well its made. You can be still sleeping, while others are awake. There are times when we drawn back from our sleeping hours. Mostly mine. At least I spend less time watching the void.
"Oh yeah, the timezones. I forgot about it." - Kyreis
I kindly smile at it. He saw that too. I mean, that wasn't a hard thing. I would be suprised if he could sense it with normal voice chat. But we usually do our talks and chat by video calls
"Have you escaped yet?" - Kyreis
"Not yet." - Agreis
I spoke with Kyreis about my jail of a dream. That place fascinated him, the whole [beauty of nothing]. How can something be called pretty on its own, without any added value? Even if we speak about nothingness. Maybe, partially my fault. Often I told him about that world in great detail.
Once, he said we should grab this idea. Thus we wrote a story about a hellish locomotive which is bound to always get back to his starting point.
"I was about to get some breakfast. So can you tell me what you wrote?" - Agreis
"What will be your snack?" - Kyreis
"Its not a snack, it is a breakfast." - Agreis
Kyreis just looked at me.
"Okay, i planned to have pancakes with some bananas and strawberry. Adding chocolate syrup with it too, for extra sugar." - Agreis
"Agreis, are you planning this before or after your breakfast?" - Kyreis
I gave him the same reply.
But he laughed about it. While I smiled at it.
"Could you spare me some too?" - Kyreis
"and send through the Ether? isn't food transmission prohibited on the ethernet?" - Agreis
Our friendly banter and chitchat. One of the anchors of my sanity.
"So the mail, we got a chance at another writing contest." - Kyreis
"What are the requirements?" - Agreis
"They are searching for a writer doing dark fantasy or a cyberpunk-themed one." - Kyreis
"Dark fantasy?" - Agreis
"There is that train story we wrote that is a dark fantasy too." - Kyreis
"We meant it to be that? I thought we were doing a horror bit." - Agreis
"Now I understand why it was based on hell and heaven. It really had some horror elements." - Kyreis
"We didn't really finish that one. An end to the story." - Agreis
"Wasn't that bound to return to where it started, like you were bound to return to that dimension?" - Kyreis
"What?" - Agreis
I became shocked upon hearing this question. It was strange. Why does the question bring me a sense of despair? Myself and Kyreis talked about the land of nothing that I spent months not being able to move away from it. Why is it only now, that this gave me dread, shock and despair?
I started to feel lightheaded, like I was falling.
The sudden darkness enveloped the world around me. My vision of the world is turned into the color of the void. Like the one in my dream.
I... I wasn't imagining, I really lost my footing. Moreover, I lost the floor that held me in place.
"Wha..... What is this place?!" - Agreis
I looked around. This place was overly similar.
The place of my dreams, an endless void till my eyes see.
"I never thought that, one time, I would write about my own demise. Just like the protagonist, I am well bound to this place." - Agreis
The thought of a writer actually writing about his own end popped into my mind. It is a bit ironic that I didn't know that this would happen. I still wrote...
And...
This won't stop me from doing it!
"Void! You need more than this to break me!" - Agreis
Wait more? In here?
"HAHAHA I guess I already beat you, Void! You don't have nothing and the fact that I'm here is negating your existence. Because now you have something!" - Agreis
There was no answer, or reply. Nothing. What do I expect from this? There is nothing here exc....
Then I saw something.
"What is that sparkling thing? It is moving." - Agreis
"Woah, there is more of it. What is this?" - Agreis
I thought this place didn't have anything. Then there are those sparkling white blobs which change forms.
Wait... its getting closer. too close to my taste.
*splash*
"Ahhhhhh *gasping air*" - Agreis
I dived deep in the ocean which wasn't here nor my dreams or when I got here.
I looked around, to see something.
But it was only the old and familiar void, with some oddities.
"Huhhh" - Agreis
That white spot is now presumably in the sky. There was only one now.
"You have got a lot bigger now." - Agreis
I found myself in the dimension of my dreams. The land I got stuck for a while.
The endless nothingness.
"It looks like the Void isn't so empty." - Agreis
It started to become a calm, oddly soothing place. It didn't stay like that for long, suddenly something pulled me in. To the deepest part of the ocean of this dimension.
The fear, shock and panic came back very early. Like a bad visitor who just came as he pleased.
That moment was when I woke up. I was in my bed, drenched in sweat. My breathing was frantic, my heart was bumping and having a beat which would match 190 bpm hiphop music.
I didn't know what that was which dragged me down, or how I got there in the first place.
Then I clicked.
"It was when I spoke with Kyreis. After that...?" - Agreis
"Did I just fall asleep not knowing about it, or did I really travel through dimensions?" - Agreis
I may write one or two stories about being in another dimension. But it's somehow hard to accept that I travelled. Especially now that I know i woke up... I mean, I hope I'm not a dream at the moment either.
An experience like this gets harder to accept once reality seeps in.
"Today is not the day when I will know if the dream was real. At least I changed that world a little bit?" - Agreis
