38 Rush hour was in full force by the time Phoenix PD allowed us to leave. At least the weather was pleasant. Not a hundred twenty degrees, though those days weren’t far off. During the previous summer, Phoenix’s monsoon season was more of a non-soon. We broke the record for the most days over a hundred, over a hundred ten, and over a hundred fifteen, with record-breaking temps well into November. I hoped the approaching summer would be cooler but wasn’t holding my breath. We stopped at the Bunker to take Diana for a run and to change out of our gear before heading on to the hospital.
