I don't know why, but there's something about him that makes me wonder. I am currently doing my job as his personal assistant. I am Lucy Moore, the one he trusts the most. I'm talking about my mysterious boss. “Coffee,” I heard his baritone voice through the intercom. I immediately got up from my swivel chair and followed his order. I make his favorite brewed coffee every morning whenever he arrives at the office on time. This time, I forgot because I had a lot of things to do. After making his coffee, I knocked on his office door three times. “Come in.” I opened the door and stepped inside. I found him busy working on his laptop. Here I am again, feeling nervous with my hands shaking, but I thanked God because I was good at hiding it, and he didn’t notice anything. I thought he was alone, but I noticed someone sitting on his couch. A beautiful, sexy, yet elegant woman was sitting there, her brows raised as she looked at me. She stared at me from head to toe. Her lips twitched in annoyance when she saw me. “So, you’re Lucy?” “I am,” I answered in a professional manner as I placed his cup of coffee on his office table. “You may go now,” his authoritative voice commanded, and I nodded. When I was finally outside his office, I closed my eyes and rested my back against the door. I could feel my heart beating fast. I don’t know why, but every time I feel his presence and those serious eyes bore into mine, my heart skips a beat, something I still can’t figure out. I decided to head back to my office and continue working. I became so focused on finishing my tasks that I didn’t even notice how much time had passed until I realized it was already time to go home. Exhaustion slowly crept through my body, making me massage my temples. Leaning back against my swivel chair, I closed my eyes for a moment, trying to ease my tired and restless mind. I cleaned my office table and organized my things. I stood up from my swivel chair, picked up my bag, and walked out of my office. I checked my wristwatch and realized it was already six-thirty in the evening. I could hear my stomach growling, which meant I was completely hungry. I started walking toward the garage and opened my bag to look for my car key. A smile crept on my lips when I found it. I opened the car door and got into the driver’s seat. Suddenly, when I started the engine, my car didn’t move, and I frowned. I decided to step out and check what had happened. I opened the back of my car and found nothing wrong. But when my eyes landed on the other tire, I felt worried, it had a puncture. I sighed in frustration, feeling helpless at the situation. “What just happened?” I jumped in shock when I heard his baritone voice. I cursed in my mind several times. I thought he had already gone home with that beautiful, sexy woman. Where is she? “There’s a hole in my tire,” I answered. And here I am again, my heart beating fast. “Hop in, I’ll take you home,” he said in an authoritative tone. Of course, I was stunned by his words. He was going to take me home? Was this even real? “But—” “No buts. Get in,” he said in a commanding tone. “How about my car?” “My men will handle it.” I had no choice but to follow his command. After all, he was my savior tonight. Just then, my stomach growled again, reminding me how hungry I was. Embarrassed, I bit my lower lip. I had a feeling he heard it, though. I opened the back door of his car, but he stopped me. “In the front seat,” he said firmly. With no choice, I walked to the other side and sat in the front seat beside him. “I heard it. You must be hungry,” he said as he started the engine. “Let’s find a restaurant to eat at. I’m hungry too.” I could hear the soft hum of the air conditioner along with the familiar love songs playing through his car stereo. Thankfully, the music somehow eased the awkward silence between us. Why does he always have such a serious aura? He’s the mysterious type, after all. While we were on our way, I was startled when a loud gunshot suddenly echoed through the air. Fear instantly consumed me, and I covered my head as I screamed in terror. I heard him curse several times. My eyes widened in shock when I saw a gun inside his car. “Y-You have a gun?” I asked nervously. He didn’t answer. Instead, he rolled down the car window and fired back at someone who had shot at his car. Thank God his car was bulletproof. I touched my chest where my heart was. I could hear it pounding. Fear gripped me over what had just happened. I’m too young to die. “Head down,” he commanded. “Who are they?” I asked, my voice trembling with confusion and fear. “It’s none of your business to ask me that. You’re just my personal assistant, and you’re not allowed to ask personal or private questions like this.” I bit my lower lip when I heard his low, warning baritone voice. “I cleared my throat at what I had just heard, silently wishing the scene would end. Once again, I screamed when gunshots rang out around our car. My hands trembled in fear. Who is he really? And why are they after him?” I heard him curse, then he opened the car window and shot at his enemy. I cried in terror.
