6. A new King is Crowned

Nicolaas POV

I woke up feeling somewhat down even though today was the day I was going to be crowned King. My parents had arrived back for South Africa about two days ago and won't tell me anything other that what a beautiful place it was and how proud they were of her and how much she had changed... Changed?? My mother wouldn't give me any answered but told me that I should probably go there earlier than the others to see for myself the changes before I made any decisions about who I want as my Queen.

I wasn't really sure where the hell that came from. She loved Karmin so I wasn't sure where this was coming from. I asked her about her trip and how was the pack. My mother looked and me and raised her brow. "I know what you are after and she isn't coming. Also I'm not going to tell you want she said Nic. You honestly wouldn't believe me if I told you. If it wasn't her that told me I honestly wouldn't have believed it." " Was he really that bad to her mother?" " In my eyes sweetie... I feel he was worse."

I took a deep breath and my heart broke for her. I looked at my mom and kissed her head. " I'm going to go down now. I'll see you in a bit. You better go get ready it us almost time."

I give her a smile and a little nod. I picked up my phone to send Karmin a text, I told her that we will be coming a week early to just inspect the pack and get a full report on what actually happened and not this half ass story we have been told. I hit sent and I heard a message tone coming from my bedroom. I still.

W: Go to room go to room now! We need to catch them before they leave!

Will was literally bouncing up and down and winning in my head giving me a huge head ache. He had been pacing up and down in my head for the whole day and I couldn't get him to stop.

N: What are you on about. Just shut up I'm trying to listen.

W: Go now go to the room now you will miss them

N: who the hell are you talking about??

W: MATE NOW GO!!!

I rushed to my room. No one should be here.. Mate ?? what thr hell was Will on about. I ran to my room and threw the door open and was hit with the most amazing scent I have ever smelled.. It was fresh peonies and hints of vanilla. The scent was making my heart race and my c**k painfully hard. I looked around trying to find the source of the sent.

I flop onto my bed giving up after looking in every corner of my suite. I sighed and then smiled. It smiled like my mate had picked up my pillow and held it to her. The more I breathed it in the more I got this feeling that I know this scent. That this scent has always been there but for some reason I couldnt put my finger on who it belong to. I got up and heard a little thud.

I picked up the small box and couldn't help but sniff it. It smelled like her. My mate left this for me? how did she even get in let alone have time to hold my pillow and leave a gift ? I opened the box and I just stared at the pin. It was a beautiful silver pin of a wolf howling at the Moon Goddess herself with a little crown on his head. I chuckled. Subconsciously I ran my fingers over the pin waiting for the burn to come but it never did. I then realized that the pin has been covered with something so that the silver didn't burn. It was beautiful and thoughtful and I couldn't get over the detail in the fur of the wolf. Who ever did this did it with a lot of love thats for sure. I looked under the lid and saw a letter.

I unfolded the letter and the her scent just poured off of it... I can't contain the smile that is playing on my lips. "oh Moon Goddess thank you."

I couldn't wait for my trip. Finally I was going to get everything that I wanted. "Oh my little one I hope you are ready for the beast." I smiled and got ready in my suit. Finally I pick up the pin and placed it over my heart to keep her close. How she knew that is would work and also where she got it because I really want more. I'm finally dressed and ready to go. I take one last and smile. It's time to become a king.

Karmin's POV

As soon as I stepped into Nicolaas' room I realized why the Goddess had told me that he and I could not see each other until the Alpha meeting. I took a deep breath in and sighed for what felt like the first time this whole year in relief. His scent smelled like fresh chocolate chip cookies, vanilla and sagewood all mixed together... Simply he smelt like home and this was completely comforting. I walked over to his bed and grabbed his pillow hold it tight to me. I can't remember him ever smelling this good though...

I: hmmmm I can't wait until we can take a bite out of them

K: They never smelt like this before though.. I mean he... them they always smelt good but not like this...

I: hahahhaha you would think a smart Alpha who has gone through this before would realize that they were standing in their Mate's bedroom.

K: MATE?

Mate. I was so lost in his scent and being in his room that I didn't even realize he was my second chance mate. It makes sense though and honestly I was confused about my first mate but his one I definitely would get head over heels lost for. I had always hoped we would be mates and n I guess this explains our feelings toward each other.

"Our mate" I whispered with a smile. I walked around his room looking and the very few pictures he had there... Some of them were from his school days or when he was at the Alpha academy. Some were from when he was little with his Beta and Gamma. But the ones that really stood out were the ones with me in them. Looking at our smiling faces I could see the genuine affection there. Then there was the one on his bedside. The one of me on the day I took the oath of our packs Alpha. I had tears in my eyes I had just join two packs and brought some sense of peace. I was so proud of myself and it showed.

I smiled and touched the frame.. it would be the first thing he would look at in the morning and the last at night and this tugged at my heart. Just as I was about to pick up the frame my phone beeped. I frozen. s**t I forgot to switch it I to silent before I got here. I listened and I heard motion coming from where I'm guessing is his office. I smiled. "Soon my mate soon. but for now I must go" I whisped to no one. I brought the gift upto my lips and gave it a small kiss. "I hope you like it"

And with that I was gone, back at my pack house smiling like an i***t. "Oh Hailey, Liam please come to my floor. I've got so.e great news to tell you" I was smiling through the midlink even.

"On our way our Alpha" 2 minutes later they both walked in looking at me as if I had lost my mind. Before they could say anything I simply looked up and told them "I have found my second chance mate"
