“All right,” the nurse says, snapping off her gloves as she steps back from the bed. “You’re all stitched up.”
I groan and I pick my shirt— still blood stained, slipping it on.
"You're lucky," she continues, putting back the stitching tools in the metal tray, "The bullet didn't hit any vital organs so no internal bleeding occured."
I grunt in response.
She smiles politely. "Try to rest. We'll be monitoring you closely."
She turns and makes for the door, giving Jake and Sandra a small nod on her way out, and as soon as the door clicks shut, Sandra explodes.
"How did you let Sara get kidnapped?" She yells.
I inhale deeply, shutting my eyes. "They came with guns and explosives. There was no way I could have stopped them unprepared."
