The drive home feels long and traitorous, like the world itself is conspiring against me.
Alex hasn’t said a word since our meeting with Lily. He hasn't even spared me a single glance, talkless of answering my questions.
I rake my brain over every second of our encounter at the store, replaying every scene, one by one. Trying to figure out what I might have done wrong but nothing comes to mind.
The car finally pulls up in front of my building and the driver politely turns and announces,
“We’ve arrived, Miss Sara."
Trying to lighten the mood, I nod at the driver and turn to Alex with a charming smile and say, “I’ll sort out the designs we’ll be discussing with Lily tomorrow. Hope you will join us?"
Nothing.
He doesn’t even look up from his laptop. He just focuses on it, frown
