Violet carries in a terrible mood, and arrives at Priest Josep Bucki's closing ceremony. It wasn't until Priest Josep Bucki called that Violet snapped out of the mess in her head and stood up to accept the prestigious reward she had achieved. At the end of the service, Priest Josep Bucki called Violet out to the flower garden behind the church. It is also where Violet regularly chats with Priest Josep Bucki after every class.
Usually, for Violet, this was the best time. But today, she was no longer confident enough to enjoy it. Her future is slowly being captured and destroyed by Aunt Sophia. Priest Josep Bucki sat on the stone bench and motioned for Violet to sit.
"God is always kind to all of us, Violet," Priest Josep Bucki said.
"But he forgot about me, dear priest Josep Bucki," Violet said sadly.
Priest Josep Bucki let out a sigh, and then he looked directly at Viole with his kindest eyes, "Goodness will light the way for your life,"
"A confession?" Hana asked.
Priest Josep Bucki nodded, "Likewise, darling. If you want to let me hear, I'm always willing."
Violet sighed and sat down, her hands straining against the hem of her shirt. Priest Josep Bucki waited patiently for her, bringing a hot tea with her favorite flavor. Violet didn't hesitate to pick up her teacup and take a deep breath. The warmth eased the discomfort and trepidation in Violet's heart. She said slowly, "Aunt Sophia wants me to marry Mr. Vango. Later this month, he will bring the money and marry me. She will remove my name from the genealogy if I run away, and I will become an unprotected child."
Violet paused to observe Priest Josep Bucki's attitude and continued, "I don't want to marry him. Not to mention the stories I heard about the terrible past and the death of 3 ex-wives. I want to marry someone I love, the honorable Priest Josep Bucki. To marry Mr. Vango would be like selling me as an enslaved to his house. Over the years, I have been trying to get rid of Aunt Sophia's domination, and there is only one month left. I will be 18 years old, and she wants me to marry Mr. Vango at the end of this month, for two weeks before my birthday."
Priest Josep Bucki sighed and patted Violet's chestnut hair. He'd known Violet since the day she'd been outside the classroom door listening to his lecture. Whether it was sunny or rainy, whether the day was dry or blizzardy, Violet always carried a pot of wild fruit and stood low outside the classroom window. Violet was knowledgeable and had a completely different interpretation of the times. He wants Violet to join his class, so he convinces Sophia's family to set up her to allow Violet to attend his class every afternoon. To get her consent, Priest Josep Bucki had to deduct part of his rights and use it to make the reward make Sophia agree.
None other than Priest Josep Bucki slowly saw Sophia's growth. Sometimes he wanted to ask if Violet would agree to become a priestess. This way, he could protect Violet and separate her from Sophia's family. But Violet's will and bright eyes whenever she mentions her desire for the future and her belief in intense love make priest Josep Bucki back down. This cold and rigid church was not the place for Violet. She needed to get to the life she had always wanted and wanted.
"I knew there was a place that would keep you out of this wedding," Priest Josep Bucki said.
Violet hurriedly asked, "Please tell me,"
"You need to get a good job in the wealthy clans in the Dome capital. The laws of the Dome clans have always protected their employee's supremacy. And I'm sure Vango won't touch you," Priest Josep Bucki said.
Violet was immediately sorrowful, "But Priest Josep Bucki, I don't know anyone in the wealthy clans. And I don't know if they need someone right now?"
Priest Josep Bucki's gaze turned affectionate, "Don't worry, I will introduce you to the Rasebert family. They need a tutor for their 2nd daughter, and I think you'll suit her."
Violet stood up and shouted, "Really? Oh! Dear honorable Priest Josep Bucki, I would be very grateful to be accepted to work for the Rasebert family." Violet paused for a moment and then continued. "Last year, I had the opportunity to go to the Dome capital to shop for Christmas. And I met the daughters of the Rasebert family and how beautiful and friendly they were. Countless times in my dreams, I wish I could get close to them."
And realizing she had said too much, Violet confusedly stroked her shirt shyly, "Please don't make fun of me. This joy is so unexpected; I don't know what words to express my feelings right now."
Priest Josep Bucki smiled gently, "Violet, may god always show me the way. I'm always here and ready to ease any pain of you."
Violet hugged Priest Josep Bucki in happiness. Her eyes glittered as if they contained a gleaming galaxy inside. Violet happily bids her Priest Josep Bucki farewell and returns to aunt Sophia's house. As she passed Antoni's house, Violet shouted to see him sitting in the sun with the golden cat in front of the door, "Antoni, you're going to catch a cold,"
Sensing Violet's joy, Mr. Antoni was a little upset; he gripped the cat's ear so tightly that it cried out in fear and escaped.
"The whole town is rumoring about the old man Vango coming to marry you later this month. And yet you can have fun?" roared Antoni.
The sun had only come down a little; Violet knew it was a while away from Aunt Sophia's family's return. So she pushed across the half-erect gate and sat down next to Mr. Antoni. She watched the red sun like a chicken egg slowly move, "I'm going to the capital to work as a maid for the Rasebert family. Vango, will not marry me."
Antoni laughed, "Are you going to leave?"
"Not leaving. But I will find ways not to marry Mr. Vango; Priest Josep Bucki introduced me to the Rasebert family,"
"If it's Josep Bucki, it can be trusted. He alone is the cleanest in this dirt and mud town." Antoni said thoughtfully.
Violet likes Mr. Antoni very much because he dares to say things the whole town ignores. And he sees something that this entire town is mesmerized by that they deliberately don't want to see. Although Aunt Sophia always forbade Violet to get even half a step closer to Antoni's house, Violet always had a way of talking to Antoni.
Before leaving Antoni's house to return to Aunt Sophia's house, Violet instructed him not to talk about going to the Raseberts as a tutor. In the afternoon, Violet was again in the chaos of aunt Sophia and Vivian's cursing and screaming. Amber was a good kid; most of the time, he watched television with uncle Dean.
But it was a weird little today; sometimes, he would look in the kitchen and look at Violet as if he had something to say. Then he turned to look at the television. When he finished showering and getting ready for bed, he saw Violet's back stretching into the kitchen. Amber boldly stepped closer to her, pulling on the apron Violet was wearing. Noticing that the person coming was Amber, Violet quickly dropped the unwashed bowl and said to Amber, "I'm busy, Amber,"
Amber was the only person Violet liked in Aunt Sophia's family, so she didn't want to disappoint him. Violet whispered to Amber, "Of course not; I'm going to get out of here and go to the capital to work." Violet held Hesitating for a moment, Amber said, "Ahh, my mom said you will get married later this month." Amber looked at Violet intently. "With a rich husband."
her little finger up in front of Amber and continued. "Promise me; you can't talk about this with anyone. It is the secret between our sisters."
Amber's big round face nodded repeatedly; he held out his short, fat little finger and turned his hand to Violet. But very soon, Violet regretted talking to Amber. Although he has respect for her and Amber is an honest child. That same honesty pushed Violet to the dead end of her future path.
