Not wanting to make his girlfriend more upset by Egan's problems, Eric decided to intervene:
"Let's eat too." Eric quickly changed the subject to reassure his girlfriend: "I picked you up early this morning, so you didn't have time to eat, right?"
Eric indeed came to pick up Kaylin very early today at Egan's request. Egan wanted Kaylin to be there in time when Vera opened her eyes. He's afraid he won't be able to handle being alone with Vera. In case Vera didn't know about him yet, it was possible that Vera would be withdrawn or aimlessly insecure. The incident this morning was certainly not beyond Egan's expectations. Fortunately, Kaylin was able to rescue her in time, otherwise, Egan would leave a bad impression on Vera's subconscious. He tried to approach Vera like an unnecessary act.
