JILL Blinded. Everything’s bright and desaturated. My legs are moving, I’m walking, staggering. I don’t know what’s holding me up, or where the energy has come from. I would’ve thought any attempt to move would’ve ended up with me collapsing into separate parts. Am I whole now? This morning I was a woman holding darkness inside her that, unless I’d needed to preserve my life, I might have never known more than a dull pulse of what was there. But now, what in fact am I? Staring down at myself, surprised to see that I’m whole. Still waking up. Keep walking and my shoes are landing on something soft. Grass. Down a hill. Where do I start? Well, it would start with: How do I integrate something exponentially greater than me? And who are my allies? My family. What do they appear as? Splinters
