“You’re sure, absolutely sure Doc?” asked Keith Greaves after Trent had conducted a half hour examination of Tilly.
“There’s no doubt about it Constable. Your wife most definitely does not have the plague.”
“But her symptoms…”
“I’ll grant you that at first glance you might think she has the same disease as the others, but I assure you she hasn’t. Like I said a minute ago, Tilly has a severe cold, and is running a high temperature, and I suspect that your wife may also be suffering from the early symptoms of angina, which would explain her chest pain, but, I’ll repeat again, she doesn’t have pneumonic plague!”
