CHAPTER 40 Paul Trent couldn’t sleep. His mind was filled with questions for which he had no answers. At least, not yet. Would the German scientist Koenig find the right mix of chemicals and reproduce the cure to the altered plague bacillus? After all it had been over ten years since the man had worked with Dreschler at the Straub factory. Would they in fact need the vaccine? If the plague had burned itself out, then maybe those in the hospital would recover without it. Then again there was still a chance that more of the lethal toxin lay below the ground in the remnants of the wartime biological bomb. That led Trent to his next question.
