By the following day, the subject of time had begun to weigh heavily on the minds of all those attempting to stem the spread of the plague. Though still localised within the parish of Olney St. Mary, the signs weren’t good. Time had become the enemy, almost as much as the disease, as the hospital marquee continued to fill with new cases and suspected cases, and the recovery statistics remained at one. So far, Emily Bradley was the only survivor from those who’d contracted the plague, making the future look bleak for those who languished in the beds of the little field hospital.
