CHAPTER 27 The Reverend Timothy Grafton was nothing if not surprised to see a delegation of doctors standing at the door to the vicarage. The quaint cottage that served as the home of the incumbent of the post of minister of St. Mary’s stood in a small walled garden less than twenty yards from the church. He’d opened the front door to his home before anyone had knocked on it, having seen the four men and Hilary Newton walking up his garden path. Without waiting to inquire as to the purpose of their visit he politely invited them in.
