Chapter 3 GREENE MANSION. The next day. I woke up to the sight of a handsome man intensely gazing at me. I beamed. Ah…he looks so hot. Wait! Isn’t he that Charles jerk Hawking!? Shocked, I instantly sat up on my bed. “What the hell are you doing here?” I snapped, but instead of answering, he checked me out. My eyes widened on seeing him gape at my…my chest?! How dare he?!! I looked down only to find that I was wearing…just a strapless nightie. Sh*t! Flushed, I immediately wrapped myself in a quilt. Oh, god…just how embarrassing this morning can be! Again, I looked…oh no, grimaced at him. “Get out.” I roared. Just as I had expected, he ignored me. Not willing to give up, I screamed, “Ahh…” He promptly rushed and covered my mouth with his bare hand. In the chaos, we both fell into the bed. Ignoring the sparks surfacing my body, I fiercely glared at him. ”…” ‘He smells so good,’ my inner mind exclaimed. Shut up!! I tried to free myself, but he pushed my body onto the bed. Suppressing me with his body. I wrestled against him, which, anyway, went in vain. What the hell is his body made up of? “Calm down.” He sighed. Calm down, my foot! He successfully pinned my hands on the headrest, keeping me at his mercy. “Get ready…we are going to the Civil Affairs Bureau.” I immediately shook my head in negation. No!! Inching close to my face, “you have no choice baby girl,” he whispered in my ear, not before biting my earlobe. Uhh!! “…” Before I could comprehend what was happening, someone knocked directly, opening the door. The next second grandfather’s voice was heard. “Jenny are you…ahh,” I could hear my grandfather’s startled voice. Damn it…just kill me already! Charles immediately got up to greet grandpa while I hid myself under the quilt. Too embarrassed to even show my face. “Hmm...you guys continue.” I could hear him laugh as he walked away. God knows what wild thoughts are running in his head, all thanks to the man in this room. After a few moments, As I tried to compose myself, the devil uttered, “Get ready. I will meet you downstairs.” And then he disappeared out of the room. Finally! I hurriedly ran to lock the door. I sighed, leaning on the door, completely drained. Huh…what in the hell just happened? How can I get so affected by his mere closeness? Something is wrong with my body. ***** I rushed into the bathroom and took a quick shower to freshen myself. Along the way, I quickly texted Bella that I would be late for the day and handle the patients for the time being. Having assistance truly comes in handy. Now what to wear? Hmm...! I am going to get married, so, of course, I need to look great even if everything is not according to my wishes. Suddenly, my eyes went on to the red dress hung in my closet. It looked brand new. Maybe mom had bought it. I quickly wore it, pairing it up with pearl earrings and applied a bit of makeup. I twirled in front of the mirror. Perfect! Walking down the stairs, I noticed my parents and Charles were involved in a deep conversation. “You look so gorgeous, princess.” My mother gushed in adoration at the sight of me. “The dress looks perfect on you. No wonder Charles wanted to gift you.” Instantly, I felt his hard gaze checking me out. I tried to act unfazed as I walked towards them, but only God knew... I greeted my parents, and we settled down to have breakfast. Grandpa wasn't present. "Jenny, your grandpa told you two were getting along quite well earlier." Those words were enough to make me choke on my food. I hurriedly drank a glass of water. I caught a sight of stupid smirk on Charles' face. How I wish I could rub it of his face! ***** CIVIL AFFAIRS BUREAU. Charles parked the car while I waited aside. So, am I really getting…married?! I sighed. How unpredictable life can be! I saw him walking towards me. “Let’s go.” He motioned and directly took me inside, skipping the long queue of people to register. Hmm…perks of being wealthy. A few moments later. We walked out carrying our marriage certificates. Wow, it seemed surreal to me! “I need to hurry back to the office, so you go back by taxi.” He left after uttering those words. “See you tonight.” He gave me one last look before driving away. I stood there stunned. What could you have expected, Jenny? This is how your married life is going to be! I hailed a taxi, “Fortune hospital, please.” ***** FORTUNE EYE CARE CENTER. I continued to engage myself in the work. “Hey…why do you look so pale?” Bella questioned as she kept a medical report of the former patient on my desk. “Uhm…tired maybe?” I leisurely replied. “Coffee?” “Yeah, sure.” I stretched my arms whilst sitting on the chair. “There’s a party to attend tomorrow. The director had called to inform you.” “Oh…” “Oh god what’s with that listless face of yours?” “I told you I’m tired.” “My dear, you should take care of yourself.” “Yes madam,” I snickered with a mock salute, making her laugh. “Hey, why don’t we go shopping after work? Anyway, my shift is going to end soon.” She chirped, and I didn’t have the heart to refuse her. “Alright, where to??” ***** R-CITY MALL. We wandered all around the shopping mall from shop to that until Bella found her dream shop. Well, this girl is one of a kind! No sooner did I enter the shop, my eyes got stuck on a shimmering beige dress. “Try it on babe.” Bella ushered me aside. I gave her a quick nod. I tried on the dress and, just as I had expected, it looked amazing. Oh, I am going to buy it! Suddenly I heard a scream from outside, and it sounded more familiar like... Bella. I quickly changed my clothes and hastened my steps towards the source of noise. Bella and an unknown lady were caught up in a heated argument while the workers stood there with helpless looks. “Bella?” I called out to her. There was a bright red slap mark on her face which looked frightening. Before she could reply, the lady spoke up with a scowling face. “Hey lady, you seem pretty sophisticated. Let me tell you this woman is a two-faced b*tch who likes to break other people’s homes. Be mindful of her.” With a huff she walked out. “Doc…doctor, I will see you tomorrow.” Teary-eyed Bella scurried away without giving me a glance. “Wait… Bella?!” I shouted from behind, but to no avail. I stood rooted there for a while unsure of how to react. Who was that woman? Every moment I spent with Bella, she seemed so cheerful that I never thought about what trouble she might be facing. And how can she be someone's mistress? Things look really twisted here. We do need to have a good chat tomorrow. ***** ROSE APARTMENT. Ahh…today was such a tiring day! I exhaled when entering my bedroom. I freshened myself and directly went to bed. A goodnight’s sleep is all I need. At midnight. I suddenly woke up to the constant ringing of the doorbell. Who could it be at this time? Scared, I hurriedly took a frying pan and peeped through the peephole. Only the shadow of a strange mighty man could be seen. Ahh…ghost!? Oh jenny, be positive! It must be some drunk man. Encouraged enough, I quickly opened the door. Just as I was about to hit the intruder, he grabbed my hand and constrained me by the door. The familiar smell hit me. Charles?? I immediately looked up. “Mrs. Hawking, do you want to kill your husband,” he whispered in my ear, “and that too… On your wedding night?”
