There is a Japanese restaurant near the hospital. I felt like having Japanese food so it went into that restaurant. I ordered some sushi and sashimi. They serve their food in a conveyor belt. I enjoyed my food. I wanted to have some alcohol but the hospital has a rule that a resident doctor should never have any alcohol consumption if he doesn't have any other doctor to replace him in case of any emergency. I stayed in the restaurant for about half an hour before going back. I decided to take a walk for some time near the hospital before going inside. But then I saw an ambulance coming. The paramedics came out of the ambulance to take the patient inside. He looks serious. He had a head injury and his right knee looked injured too. I asked the paramedics about the patient. They told me that he had an accident and injured his ribs, head, and right knee. I quickly went inside the emergency room with the patient to check him up. I ran some x-ray of his legs. The left leg was fine, it just had some bruises, but he's right knee had dislocated which damaged his cartilage. He had a fracture in two of his ribs. His head injury does not look too serious from outside but to know about any internal injuries I ran an MRI scan on his brain. The accident hurt his brain badly. He had internal bleeding in his brain. His brain was hemorrhaging. His body was going into shock. His pulse rate spiked. I prescribed some meds to the nurse to give to the patient. We have to perform surgery on him to alleviate the swelling in his brain and to stop the bleeding. I informed the nurse to prepare the operation theatre for the surgery and call the neurosurgeon and inform him about the patient's condition. I also told her to inform the patient's family about the accident they were waiting outside the ER. I left the ER and went to prepare for the surgery. I went to the changing room to change my clothes. Then I sanitized myself for the operation. I entered the operation theatre. Everything thing was prepared. Neurosurgeon Mr. Mark Anthony was already in there. It was a long operation. I was assisting Mr. Anthony. The surgery had a very less success rate. His body was already old. His family was permitted to go with the surgery. He was fifty-five. Young patients have higher chances to survive. Halfway into the operation, his body started arresting. His vitals started to die down. His pulse rate was less than forty. I gave him CPR but we couldn't save him. He flatlined not after too long. I was so mournful and disappointed. It was the first time in my career that a patient died on the operation table. I can't even think about coming out of the OT and told his family that he passed away. His family was looking at me with hope and faith that we will save him. I was out of words to inform them. Mr. Anthony went out to tell them the news. I was still inside the OT. I was supervising the nurses who were going to transfer his body to a stretcher to take it out of the OT. I covered his body with a medical cloth. While the nurse was removing the monitor and other machines that were committed to him, hand slipped out of the operation.table. I hold his hand to put it back but as soon as I touched his hand I felt like I have been electrocuted. My body jolted and fall back a step. The shock was too severe that I felt like my heart will burst. I breathing hitched and a started sweating. All I can hear was a deafening beep in my ears. I fell on the ground and darkness surrounded my body. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -- - - -
