Chapter 22At breakfast at his favorite family restaurant, Kenta read the newspapers, several in Japanese, and a couple of articles in English. Reading newspapers over a big meal was the best start to the day. In prison, he’d been allowed to read the newspapers, which had opened his eyes to how society really worked. At university, before his arrest, he’d only learned how the world was supposed to work, which wasn’t very useful. Kenta lined up his cellphones and tablet beside his plate of eggs, bacon, hash browns, and toast, making sure not to drop crumbs on the devices, but the caffeine from multiple coffees was not taking hold.
