Chapter 24Sukanya and Chiho had walked—and run—for hours from the film studio. Before dawn arrived, they ducked into a 24-hour family restaurant with an all-you-can-drink service, and fell asleep on the booths. When they woke, they refilled their drinks, used the toilet, and went out to find a taxi. The sun was out and felt good after being up most of the night. Sukanya stared out the window of the taxi, dulled by the lack of sleep and the need to accept that the passport and papers Ratana had were not there, and were never going to be.
