THE WIND HIT THE WINDOW. The whistling noise startled her and she turned to look out. The storm raged strongly outside and the lightning slashed the night and hurt her eyes. Raindrops hit the roof rhythmically and irritated her. The cold seeped into her bones and she shivered. Ann laid the magazine on the night table and went to close the window in the next room. She remembered she’d forgotten about it. She was content that she hadn’t heard the noise of broken glass. Going into the room, she hit the switch. The light blinded her for a second and she blinked a couple of times before going to the window to close it. She remained there and watched the night for a while.
