CHAPTER TWELVE –––––––– BRYONY STOOD AND WINCED when her stiff muscles complained. She stretched and then, turned off her laptop. She was tired to the bones and the sound of the rain pounding on the roof tiles encouraged her to go to bed. She went to the window and looked outside for a few moments, trying to distinguish something in the dark. Nothing seemed to move. She didn’t notice the silhouette hidden in the corner of the house by the tree and didn’t realise she was watched in turn. A few minutes later, she went out of the room and tuned off the light.
