I saw with the corner of my eye how dad was giving a frown while crossing his arms.
“Ahmmm, bye dad,” I said with a nervous smile
I sat in my car and drove to my interview. I am not good at directions at all. I put the address in
the FPS and set it on air driving mode. It said it was an hour away even if I air drive, I guess for
my mom and my dream job, It’s worth it.
When I reached there, I felt really nervous.
“Ammm, do you know where the interview room is?” I asked one of the employees
The building was huge, It held fifty- seven floors and It was difficult to find the interview room. I
guess it’s my fault, I forgot to charge my screenwatch last night. All the directions were in there.
“Sorry, the boss never sent me the directions for the interview,” I lied to the employ
She raised her eyebrows, It was certain that she knew that I was lying.
I was so embarrassed
that I couldn’t even make eye contact while talking.
“Ahh, the interview room is on floor five,” She told me with a fake smile
“Here I will sent Grace with you, she will take you there,” She said while as pushing an
employee towards me
I could tell that she was trying to avoid me. Now she might think I am a liar, I might have to avoid
her the future too.
“Come on, I’ll take you there,” Grace said
“Sure,” I replied while trying to avoid any trouble
We took the elevator to the fifth floor, most of the way we didn't talk at all and walked quietly.
“So, you are new right?” Grace asked me with a polite smile
“Yeah, I really want to pass the interview,” I told her
She smiled and brought her hand towards me, waiting for a hand shake.
I reached over and we shook hands.
“I am Grace and I help time travelers get prepared for missions,” She introduced herself
“I am Blaire Walker,” I told her with a giant smile on my face
I was so happy that I already made a friend and would be not alone at work. I hate being by
myself.
“So what did you apply for,” She asked
“Time Traveler, I finished all the studies and have the forms,” I replied
“Nice,” She said while nodding
“I really wanna meet my mom,” I told her
I know I should not tell her this much, I only met her today. Somehow I felt comfortable around
her and thought that she would understand me.
“People from the past can’t know that you are a time traveler and if you try to tell them anything,
the information will be sent to the headquarters,” She told me while being nervous
“Really, then I guess I will just see her and not talk,” I said with a frown.
She nodded back at me. The elevator stopped.
“I guess were here, just take a right turn from that corner and the interview room is on the left,”
She told me while pointing with her fingers
“Thank you Grace,” I said with a polite smile
“I hope we meet again, good luck,” She told me with her thumb pointing up
I followed her directions that she gave me.
“Katey willows,” a strange voice yelled
After a few minutes, it was my turn
“Blaire Walker,” They called my name
I walked in the room, not trying to be nervous.
“Introduce yourself,” A loud voice asked me
“I am Blair Walker, I took the five year Cource in time traveling and I really hope I become one of
your employes,” I told them with a smile
Time traveling was a really hard job to get, but I was confident in myself.
“So, why do you wanna be a time traveler,” The voice asked
I couldn’t tell them that I want to meet my mom because then I am obviously gonna fail.
“I really wanna help us improve our future and help fix up the mistakes our ancestors made in
the past,” I answered
After a few minutes, I was done and they said the results would be sent on my screenwatch.
“Thank you,” I said while walking out the door
“how did the interview go?” A strange voice asked me
I turned around
“Oh, Grace,” I said while in a surprise
“Did you do well?” She asked
“Well I guess, the results would be sent to me by monday,” I told her
I still can’t believe that she waited for me, we just met today and are already such good friends.
“What are you doing here?” I asked her
“Waiting for you, I thought you might get lost on you way back,” She replied with a polite smile
I smiled back
“What’s your watchcode?” I asked her
“568-986-28301,” She told me
“Can you write it on paper,” I asked
I was so embarrassed asking her that because paper is so old fashioned. Not many people use
it anymore. I guess that’s good for us because people used to cut down trees to make such a useless thing when you can use technology. It’s really expensive nowadays, so we have to only
use it when really needed.
“What about your screenwatch?” She asked
“Well, I forgot to charge it last night,” I told her while shrugging
She was polite enough to write it down for me.
“Thank you,” I said with a huge smile on my face
Time goes fast when you're with a friend, we were already out of the building. I sat in my car
headed home. I didn't feel like driving so I put it on auto-drive. The bad thing about auto-drive is
that it drives on land not the air, so it takes more time to reach the destination.
