Kate woke up feeling a pang of loneliness and hunger. She moved towards the direction of her kitchen and gasped.
" the appointment".
She rushed to the wall clock and saw it was past eight already and she was supposed to meet up with Emilia by ten.
She hurried over a breakfast of coffee and omelette and ran to the bathroom. She noted the spilled toothpaste lying on the counter and looked away from it. She hated not being in control but this was a bad time and she wasn't in the mood to face palm herself.
She peered scantly at her wardrobe and picked up a skirt and shirt and hastily put them on. Since she wasn't really into makeup she used a lipgloss and powder.
Noting that her hair was tied perfectly on a ponytail, she grabbed her keys, locked her apartment and moved to her beat up car. Maxxi still served her by taking her to her destination and back and she got him at a very good price when she came newly into town.
The drive to Macdonald's was quite short and Emilia was already sitting on a booth and waved her over.
"Hi, am so sorry for coming late, I had issues yesterday" Kate said sincerely.
"What happened Katy, are you okay?"Emilia retorted.
" yeah am fine, I lost my aunt yesterday"
Emilia was startled. She could recall the face of Kate's aunt. A round smallish woman that smiled a lot and always welcomed her into her home.
"Awww, come here honey, am so sorry Katy" her tight embrace warmed Kate and she felt safe. When Emilia finally loosened her grasp on Kate she spoke.
" maybe we should postpone this meeting, this is a bad time for you. Am so sorry honey".
" it's okay emmyy, I'll be fine, her funeral is tomorrow actually, she deserves a peaceful rest. Just a few relatives and we are all set. It's in the cemetery downtown Incase you wanna come"Kate spoke.
"Sure I will Katy, okay back to business, I told Brandon about you and he has agreed for you to come for an interview on Monday by 9am".
Kate gasped.
"Thank u so much emmy, I didn't think it would be this simple. I'll be there Monday".
"Okay but I have to be on my way now Katy, here's my number don't hesitate to call me if you encounter any issues, any at all. I have to be in a meeting right about now, it was nice talking to you. Take care honey" Emilia spoke and gathered her things to leave.
She sat there staring at Emilia's number for a while and also decided to leave. She had some shopping to do because she was running low on supplies. After paying for her coffee at the counter, she moved to her car and drove off.
The mall was filled with people today. Kate had decided that she was going to stock up today which is Friday and rest after the funeral. She earnestly prayed to get a job by Monday.
Row after row, she didn't have the slightest idea what to buy. Her mind was numb, as numb as the rest of her. She dumped anything she felt she would need into the cart.
It was hot.
There seemed to be three times as many people packed in the mall. She guessed it was just the Christmas rush. The press of bodies has used up most of the air and heat was what was left making the serene very uncomfortable. She couldn't wait to get out of this place. Kate couldn't remember being so miserable while shopping.
Dragging her scantily filled cart, she heeded for the counter when something caught her attention. The muscular back and hair reminded her of someone.
Coincidentally he turned and she gasped.
He was still as handsome as ever, more intoxicating as ever and his deep blue eyes were peering into her. He had gotten muscular and taller and the suit he was wearing did him no justice. She didn't fail to notice the considerable amount of women looking at him and whispering, even old women uggghhhhh.
Brandon was blow away for the first time in his lifetime.she was breathtaking, more beautiful than he could remember. Her long black hair were tight on a ponytail and her brown eyes shone brightly. His eyes ran down her figure, the skirt didn't do her any justice. Her figure was endearing and beautiful. She was his little secret since high school and here she was in all her glory.
"Hey Brandon, remember me?" Kate asked ruefully.
How could he ever forget.
"Yeah, Emilia's best friend"he replied calmly.
Kate smiled deeply.
"Nice to meet you again Brandon". She said and stretched out her head for handshake.
As their hands met, she felt him grasp for breath. His hand felt warm with a tingling sensation which made her blush.
He was fascinated by her soft hand on his. She was soft and slick. He noticed her vibrate out of tension and slipped his hand away from hers.
"I have to rush now Kate, I'll be seeing you on Monday right?
"Yeah you will" Kate answered.
"See you" Kate called after him as he made his way out of the crowd with his bodyguards on his tail.
She was so happy to finally be out of the mall. The fresh air felt cool as she drove out of the garage towards home.
