May and Damien sat in comfortable silence, the weight of their conversation still hanging in the air. May's mind was racing, turning over Damien's words.

She wanted to ask him more. Wanted to understand what he meant. But before she could speak, there was a knock at the door.
Both of them looked up.
Damien stood slowly, his hand pressing lightly against his side. "I'll get it."
May nodded, watching as he walked to the door.
Damien opened it, and Lucian stood on the doorstep. He was dressed in dark trousers and a jacket, his expression serious but not urgent. His eyes moved immediately to Damien, scanning his face.
