The following week, Silverwood was once again the picture of tranquility, but Lily's mind was far from peaceful. The more she learned about the town and its hidden secrets, the more questions she had. She couldn't shake the feeling that something big was about to happen. What if they find her? Will she really be happy here? Would they treat her differently?
One evening, after closing the café, Lily decided to take a walk in the woods to clear her mind. The sun had set, and the forest was bathed in the soft glow of the moonlight. As she wandered deeper into the trees, she felt a sense of calm wash over her.
Suddenly, a rustling sound nearby made her stop in her tracks. She turned towards the noise, her heart pounding. Out of the shadows emerged a large wolf, its eyes glowing with an unnatural light. Lily froze, her mind racing with fear and confusion.
The wolf growled lowly, taking a step closer. Lily backed away slowly, but her foot caught on a root, and she stumbled, falling to the ground. The wolf snarled, baring its teeth, and lunged towards her.
Before the wolf could reach her, a blur of movement intercepted it. Alex and his crew appeared out of nowhere, surrounding the wolf and forcing it back. Alex's eyes glowed with the same eerie light as the wolf's, and he moved with a speed and strength that left Lily in awe.
"Stay back, Lily!" Alex shouted, his voice filled with authority.
Lily watched in stunned silence as Alex and his crew fought the wolf. They moved with precision and coordination, their actions a blur of speed and power. The wolf snarled and snapped, but it was no match for them.
Within moments, the wolf was subdued, and Alex's crew began to bind it with silver chains. Alex turned to Lily, his eyes returning to their normal color.
"Are you okay?" he asked, his voice filled with concern.
Lily nodded, still too shocked to speak. Alex helped her to her feet, his touch gentle but firm.
"We need to get you out of here," he said, leading her away from the scene. "It's not safe."
As they walked back towards town, Lily's mind raced with questions. "What was that? What... what are you?"
Alex sighed, knowing that the time for secrets was over. "That was a rogue wolf. They're part of the supernatural world, drawn to the power in Silverwood. And as for me... I'm a werewolf, Lily. So are many of the people in this town."
Lily's eyes widened in shock. "A werewolf? But... how?"
"I wanted to protect you," Alex replied. "I didn't want to drag you into this world until it was absolutely necessary. But now you know, and I promise I'll explain everything."
Back in town, Alex took Lily to a secluded spot where they could talk privately. He explained the history of Silverwood, the supernatural forces at play, and the role his family had in protecting the town. He told her about the rogue wolves and their constant threat, and how the arrival of Kyle, the king, had stirred up old rivalries.
Lily listened in silence, her mind struggling to process the incredible revelations. "So, everything I've seen, everything that's happened... it's all real?"
"Yes," Alex said softly. "It's all real. And now that you know, you're part of this world too."
Lily took a deep breath, her fear giving way to determination. "For a moment I thought I was going crazy and my mind was playing me tricks. It's a lot to process but I want to help. I want to understand everything and do whatever I can to protect this town, just like my grandmother. Was she a one?"
Alex smiled, his eyes filled with pride. "I knew you would. Together, we'll face whatever comes, and no she was not."
As the night wore on, Lily felt a sense of acceptance and resolve. Her encounter with the rogue wolf had changed everything, but it had also brought her closer to Alex and the hidden world of Silverwood. She knew that her journey was far from over, but with Alex by her side, she felt ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.
