CHAPTER 4: THE PROJECT WAR

Hook: It was supposed to be Anna's big break. But the war for the project had just begun...

The next morning, the board made an announcement.

"Due to the emergency, we're splitting the project. Two teams."

Anna vs The Childhood Sweetheart.

The whole office went silent.

This was a battle. And everyone had picked sides.

"Team A will be led by Anna," the CEO said.

"Team B will be led by Miss Chen."

Miss Chen smiled at Anna. "May the best designer win."

Anna's team was small. 3 people. All newbies.

Miss Chen's team had 10 people. All seniors.

The first week was hell.

Miss Chen's team presented mood boards, sketches, 3D models.

Anna's team? They barely slept.

At night, Lane came home late too.

"How's work?" he asked Anna.

"Fine," she lied. Again.

But he knew. He could see the dark circles under her eyes.

"Let me help," he said.

"No," Anna shook her head. "I need to do this myself."

Day 10. Deadline for first proposal.

Miss Chen went first. Perfect presentation. The board clapped.

Then it was Anna's turn.

Her hands were shaking.

"Our concept is... family. Because every home needs warmth."

She showed simple designs. But each one had a story.

A chair for a tired father. A table for Sunday dinner.

The room was quiet.

Then the CEO spoke. "I choose Anna's team."

The office exploded.

Miss Chen's face turned red. "This is unfair!"

"Results speak," the CEO said coldly.

That night, Anna cried in Lane's arms.

"I did it," she whispered.

"You did," he kissed her forehead. "I'm so proud of you."

But outside, Miss Chen was making a phone call.

"We need to do something about her. Or she'll take everything."

The war wasn't over. It was just starting.
