Chapter Twenty
Sabrina’s day off that week happened to fall on New Year’s Eve. Usually, even on her days off, she’d come in to work just to check on how things are going. When she said the shelter was her life, it certainly was 24/7. She didn’t mind because being around the animals gave her purpose. A reason for getting out of bed in the morning.
On this particular day, she stayed in bed. For the rest of the week, she carried the burden of knowing her dream of expanding the shelter may never happen. She looked and looked, but there were not other properties big enough for what she had planned that was within their price range. Plus, she didn’t want to leave the Trevor area. The only one that came close to a match to Shady Acers was in the next town over. She couldn’t deprive Trevor of it
