"When in large-scale battles, there are some stark differences between a group of soldiers and a group of mercenaries. For soldiers, those in the higher position would be able to take command over the soldiers. The soldiers' morale tolerance is slightly above average. Once the soldiers' morale had reached rock bottom or way below the minimum morale. The soldiers would collapse and the command would not follow through. For mercenaries, the mercenary leader has the most important role in command. Even with the morale boost coming from the mercenary leader, the chain of command would fail to go through if the mercenary leader were to be taken down.
