Chapter 2 Our Wedding

1158 Words
"I told you, there's nothing going on between Sansa and me! In two days, it will be our wedding, so just relax and be the bride—don't think about these things!" As Liam spoke, his phone rang. Liam frowned and glanced at Quinn. "It's my dad calling. Don't say anything!" Quinn took a deep breath, controlling her emotions and staying silent. When she looked up at Liam again, she noticed his face had darkened, as though something had happened. After he hung up, his expression grew agitated. "Quinn, look at what you've done! Why didn't you stay at the hospital last night to take care of grandmother? Now she's in a coma! If anything happens to her, I will never forgive you!" Quinn sneered. "I'm not some hired help for your family. Why should I take care of your grandmother all the time?" Liam was taken aback. He hadn't expected Quinn to say that. "You're going to marry me. What's wrong with looking after my grandmother?" "We haven't married yet! We'll talk about it after the wedding!" "I don't want to waste any more time on this. I'm going to the hospital!" Liam snapped, turning to leave. Quinn sat down alone on the sofa, a sharp pain in her heart. She didn't know if she could go through with the wedding in two days. Her head was throbbing, but after some time, she decided to go visit Bella Nathaniel at the hospital. Upon arriving, she unexpectedly ran into Sansa, who was there for a prenatal checkup. Sansa greeted her first, flashing an innocent smile. "Quinn, what a coincidence." Quinn couldn't be bothered to respond, acting as if she hadn't seen her. "Why do you hate me so much? Are you mad that I took Liam from you? He was originally mine, you know. You should be the one out of the picture." Quinn sneered. Since Sansa had provoked her, it would be too cowardly to retreat. "Is that so? But in two days, I'll be marrying Liam—that's a fact. It should be you who's out of the picture. Oh, wait, you're still pregnant with your late husband's child. What right do you have to interfere with my relationship with Liam?" Poor Quinn still didn't know that Sansa was actually carrying Liam's child, and that the two of them had long been secretly involved with each other. Sansa, enraged, stopped pretending to be pitiful. Her expression turned vicious. "I am the woman Liam loves most! And my baby—" She hesitated for a moment but didn't dare to speak the truth. Quinn chuckled. "I don't care who he loves. As long as I don't break up with him, you'll always be the shameless mistress!" "You..." Sansa's face twisted with anger, but just then, Liam appeared, and a flicker of surprise flashed in her eyes. "Let's see if Liam cares about you, his official girlfriend." She grabbed Quinn's hand tightly, then pretended to stumble and fall to the floor, clutching her belly and screaming, "Ah—It hurts like hell! Why did you push me? I know you can't stand me, but you can't hurt my baby! If anything happens to the baby, I don't know how I'll cope!" Liam saw the scene unfold before him, his eyes widening in shock. He rushed to Sansa's side. "Sansa, are you okay?" "So painful... Liam, why are you here? You should stay away from me. Quinn is very angry. She pushed me and said she would kill me!" "As long as I'm here, no one dares to lay a finger on you!" Liam's voice was full of determination as he glared at Quinn, his eyes sharp enough to cut through her. Quinn laughed bitterly. Such a pathetic trick had actually tricked Liam. Liam was such a fool. How had she ever liked him? She must have been blind. When Liam saw Quinn smiling, his rage flared. He grabbed her chin roughly. "Quinn, how did you become so vicious?" Quinn met his gaze calmly. "Do you think I would do something like that?" Liam froze, taken aback. For some reason, Quinn's eyes—filled with mockery and disdain—made him feel less confident. "I saw you push Sansa to the floor with my own eyes!" "Is it possible that she fell on her own?" "Do you think Sansa would joke about her baby's life? Besides, she has no reason to frame you!" Sansa raised her eyebrows at Quinn, looking smug. Quinn repeated, "I'll say it again: I didn't push her!" "You really are unrepentant! I'll deal with you later!" Liam's disappointment was palpable. He turned to Sansa, gently lifting her up. "Don't be afraid. We're at the hospital. I'll take you for an exam right now." With that, he walked away, completely ignoring Quinn. Quinn clenched her fists tightly, struggling to hold back her tears. But one drop fell, and her heart was filled with sorrow. The sky seemed to mirror her mood, pouring rain as if in sympathy. When she regained her composure, she wiped her tears and called her good friend, Lana Blue. Soon, Lana drove over to pick her up, and the two went to a bar near the hospital. After a few drinks, with red eyes, Quinn confided in Lana about everything that had happened. Lana was heartbroken. "Liam is such a scumbag! He's really crossed the line! Sansa abandoned him when he was at his lowest, and it was you who stood by his side during those tough days, yet now he..." Quinn's tears fell uncontrollably. Everyone admired what she had done and knew well that they shouldn't let her down, but Liam didn't seem to care. Lana, wanting to persuade Quinn to break off the engagement, hesitated. Given Liam's family background—his father a tycoon, his brother the president of Helmora, and his sister a famous artist—many women would do anything to marry into such a powerful family. She cautiously asked, "What do you think? Do you want to break off the engagement?" Quinn buried her face in her hands, pain filling her chest. "I don't know." She had wanted to break off the engagement, but she had loved Liam for so many years. Now, they were about to marry, and she was about to become his wife. How could she give that up? But thinking about how Liam's heart wasn't with her, Quinn felt utterly hopeless. Lana reached out and patted Quinn's shoulder. "It's okay. Whatever decision you make, I will support you." The two continued drinking, sinking into silence. After getting drunk, Quinn felt the need to use the restroom. When she returned, dizziness overtook her, and she couldn't remember which direction to go. She stumbled toward the VIP reception floor. She searched for a long time, but couldn't find Lana. Just as she was about to look elsewhere, she turned and bumped into a strong embrace.
