Chapter 1:The first glance

207 Words
They say love finds you when you least expect it. I never believed that. I liked plans, routines, predictability. But everything changed one rainy Thursday. I was nestled in my favorite café, where the windows steamed over with condensation and the air smelled of cinnamon and coffee. My chai latte sat beside my journal, pages half-filled with thoughts I wasn’t sure I wanted to say out loud. That’s when he walked in. He was drenched, his umbrella flailing against the wind, and his laugh—free and unbothered—echoed softly through the room. Most people would’ve looked annoyed or embarrassed. But not him. He looked like the rain was a gift. Something about him made me look up, just for a second. Our eyes met. Just a flicker. Just enough. He ordered his coffee and sat at the table next to mine, glancing around like he belonged there. He smiled at me. Not a big smile—just one of those quiet, knowing ones that reach the eyes. We didn’t speak. But in that silence, something shifted in me. A tug. A spark. Something real. I didn’t know his name, or why I couldn’t stop thinking about him. But I knew I would see him again.
