Chapter 14- I Am Rich

1181 Words
As Frozen Axe chopped down on Mirage’s head, the battle finally came to an end. Following that, the system rang out. System: Congratulations! You’ve killed Mirage! XP+ 8000! System: Congratulations! You’ve eliminated S-Rank boss! Justice League's reputation+10,000! Announcement: Congratulations! Player Bishop has eliminated super boss Mirage successfully! Bishop, as the first common player eliminating a mob 100 levels beyond him, are award 6000 AP. Listening to the continuous system reminders, Ivan was excited about his award and his new level. He was not a Level 1 player any longer, he was Level 11. Even in his dreams, Ivan never expected to progress so quickly.  Ivan was an absolute winner in the battle, AP+6000, reputation+10,000, a new level, but the thing he felt most excited for would be the treasures dropped from Mirage’s body. As he expected, the glowing treasures totally showed in front of Ivan after he kicked the body away. A purple magic stick caught Ivan’s eyes at the first sight, it was a meter long and covered with a sophisticated engraved design. Ivan carefully inspected it to find a large blue jade gem glittering at the end. The purple halos and blue jade showed exactly how extraordinary the stick was.  Ivan couldn’t wait to click on the Stats of the stick. Speed Staff (Epic) Type: Magic Stick ATTACK+85 HUMAN POINT +200 MAGIC POINT+300 LUCK+15 EXPERIENCE POINT: 120/120 Special Effect: Cast Speed+30% Special Effect: Non-level limitation ...... Ivan was shocked by what was being presented to him, and he even started to believe that he may be the chosen one. However, a magic stick was never known for its attack ability, it was known for the special effect and it would be great to have Cast Speed+30%. If there were any disadvantages of the skill Heal, Ivan would use Cast Speed and Cast Time. With a quick calculation, Ivan believed he could at least cast three times in one second thanks to the speed increase. The best part was he, as a low-level player, could use it with no restrictions. From his years of experience with gaming, he knew how rare it was to get such a precious weapon. Ivan couldn’t wait to equip himself with this Speed Staff. Holding the staff in his hand, Ivan felt the energy passed from it flowing through his whole body, but, the excitement didn’t last as long as Ivan expected. Looking at the glowing staff, Ivan was not sure if this a good idea to walking around with such high-profile equipment. He could see himself being chased by numerous players and NPCs, and the last thing he wanted was to be killed and reborn at the bind of Leaf Town over and over.  With a second thought, Ivan opened the Settings panel. After he turned off the Light Effect, Ivan went back to the Stats and toggled the button to hide the stats of Speed Staff. Having the glow effect turned off, Ivan believes other players would not be able to tell any difference in his appearance with the staff.  After finishing all steps, Ivan went back to the body of Mirage. Obviously, the staff Ivan found was not the one Mirage was using, the Speed Staff must have been his spare weapon. It would be best if he could find Mirage’s main weapon or some defense equipment. After a careful search, however, Ivan found nothing he expected. He assumed the weapon must have been recalled back after the owner’s death Ivan sighed and shook his head, stopping his search. As he began to walk away he took one more look back at Mirage’s body and noticed a large pile of gold coins on the ground. Ivan rubbed his eyes a few times, then looked again to make sure he wasn’t dreaming, but the gold coins were still there.  “Oh, yeah! I’m rich! I’m the richest now!” Ivan gave a thumbs up and ran back to Mirage’s dead body. “One, two, three...” Ivan counted happily as he picked up gold coins from the ground, “Wait a minute! What did I just say? One hundred and one or one hundred and three? s**t. I’m done.” Ivan stopped his counting and simply threw all coins he saw to his backpack. Once he had all of the gold coins picked up, there were 200 showing on the screen.  Ivan switched back to the accounting mode again. According to the currency exchange rate in the game: 1 gold coin equaled 100 silver coins, while 100 silver coins equaled 10,000 bronze coins. If Ivan remembered right, one lesser MP potion in the medicine shop would cost 20 bronze coins, which meant, Ivan could purchase 500 lesser MP potions with 10,000 bronze coins, or he could say… with only 1 gold coin. “1 gold coin?” Ivan looked back to the bag, “200 gold coins?”  He had a big smile on his face but he had an even bigger surprise when something else appeared after he collected the coins. He quickly picked them up and a message appeared on the screen.  Gold Ticket: 1 gold ticket equaled to 100 gold coins. It’s merchantable in the store. "I knew I could get something valuable from Mirage! Ahahaha!" 18 gold tickets plus 200 gold coins, which meant Ivan had a total of 2000 gold coins. After confirming that there was nothing left, Ivan left and headed toward the injured Mr. Logan and ToughBlazer.  A message from Leo popped up, “Oh my goodness! Have you seen the announcement? This Bishop just killed a boss! A boss that was Level 11! I can only imagine what treasures or equipment this Bishop will get. Hey, how about we work together? Let’s find this Bishop and kill him!”   Ivan’s point to lay low was proven with Leo’s message but he said, “Leo, didn’t you notice my name is Bishop?” Leo exclaimed immediately, "No way! Why is your name Bishop, too? I didn’t know two players could have the same username? Wait a minute! Don’t tell me you’re the Bishop in the announcement?” Ivan couldn’t believe what he just heard, "Are you kidding me? All right, all right, I have new messages here. Talk to you later!" Ivan closed the chat with Leo, and then checked his other messages. "Claire?" As Ivan was about to open the message from Claire, another name caught his eyes. FallenAngel! FallenAngel, "Hey! My hero! Congratulations!" Ivan smiled triumphantly, "Thank you! I still have a long way to go!” FallenAngel, “Save it! Come on! Tell me how you took that big boss down!” Ivan rubbed his nose, "Yeah, you know, it’s not that big of a deal to kill some NPC at Level 100. I can do way better than I did.” FallenAngel laughed loudly, "Okay, okay, since you have nothing to share, I'm leaving. See you then!” Before Ivan could answer, he saw Fallen Angel's avatar turn gray. He edited and sent an offline message to her, "Sweet dreams!" Rivalry's instant messaging system was similar to most social media. In the Rivalry, players could send messages to each other either in text or in audio, even though they were not friends in the game, an icon Stranger would just show over the avatar's head. Ivan continued going through the messages and then stopped when he found a familiar account. His eyes were full of anger since the message ended with the name: SovereignKing.
