Chapter 12- Broken Heart of Dharma

System: Your mission "Go to Loda" has been changed!

System: Mr. Logan was suddenly is attacked by Mirage, one of the eight guardians of the Dark Dragon. Mission Difficulty improved.

Mission Award: XP+5000; Gold Coin+100

Condition: Save Mr. Logan

Failure Punishment: Loda Reputation-1000

XP+5000? Reputation-1000? Ivan almost screamed out loud. The award was very attractive, while the punishment was devastating if he lost. He was trying to understand why the system would give such a hard mission to a Level 2 player. Ivan couldn’t imagine how the other players or NPCs would treat him if he was walking around with -1000 Reputation so he knew he had no choice but to fight for himself. 

The HP of Mr. Logan increased continuously as Ivan kept clicking on the Heal button.

"Great! You are only Level 2? I admire your confidence. Unfortunately for you, you’ll be back to level 1 soon enough.” Mirage snarled as he glanced at Ivan and ToughBlazer.

"Go to Hell!" With a low roar, Mirage launched six Kudos Blades in different directions, with the first target being Mr. Logan.

-1500 continued to appear about Mr. Logan, and at the same time, more and more cracks became visible on the Geo-Shield. The continuous blood loss Mr. Logan was experiencing caused her to become pale and weak.  Her body trembled but she held her magic stick firmly, chanting the mana and summoning the shield to protect her from further damage. 

"No way? What happened?”

It turned out Mr. Logan suddenly couldn’t summon the energy anymore. She was getting more and more nervous as the situation was getting dire. 

Mirage laughed sarcastically, as if he knew Mr. Logan's concern, "I guess this is when you see the power of Illusionist’s Vanish Force. Now that you are near to me, I am afraid you won’t be able to use any mana or spell!”

"Well, " he turned to Ivan and ToughBlazer who stood firmly beside Mr. Logan, and continued, “I appreciate your persistence, but you are messing with the wrong people.”

Mirage waved his magic stick again and his Kudos Blade flew in four different directions. Two were aimed at Mr. Logan, while each of the other two was aimed at ToughBlazer and Ivan. 

The blue blade was heading for ToughBlazer’s face with astonishing speed.  By hiding behind Mirage, ToughBlazer was hoping to get the chance to get Mirage with his classic Assassination skill but there wasn’t enough time. ToughBlazer lifted his dagger to stop the blade but it was like a piece of paper compared to Kudos Blade. The blade hit ToughBlazer on the right side of the chest and -6000 instantly appeared above him. 

Ivan was in worse shape, he was cut in half by Kudos Blade before he even had time to react. As he found himself back in the Leaf Town bind, he swore "Holy s**t! What happened?" 

However, the mission was still ongoing and there was no time to lose. Ivan found the direction in which the attack was happening and rushed out of town, “I have to go now! XP and Coins! I am on my way!”

Luckily, ToughBlazer was still alive when Ivan arrived back at the battlefield. ToughBlazer was struggling to hide from Mirage but because of his injuries, he was having a hard time. With his right hand supported by his broken dagger, he fell to his knees and coughed heavily.

Instead of wiping away the blood on his face, ToughBlazer cursed, "Mr. Logan is the successor of Loda City, plus, she has manas and skills from Mr. Bowen. Are you sure you want to go against her father and teacher?"

ToughBlazer's words caused Mirage to frown. However, after he gave it a second thought, Mirage looked even more convinced, “Well, I guess there are only a few days left for that idiotic Lord of Loda City. As for Mr. Bowen, he can be a tough character, but as long as I take the fragments back, Mr. Dark Dragon will keep me safe for sure. Ahahahah!”

Mirage appeared to be calm and relaxed as he once again said, “Go to Hell!”

Seeing that Mirage was about to cast the spell again, Ivan felt he was standing on quicksand. He was insane to accept the impossible mission. He couldn’t comprehend how it would be possible for a Level 2 player, like him to deal with an NPC at Level 100. He had played for almost half a day and gained nothing, he only lost half of his XP and had to fight for more XP.

Ivan kept healing Mr. Logan and ToughBlazer, even though it seemed to be nothing compared to the damage caused by Mirage. It was still too hard for a player who was just starting and soon Mr. Logan’s MP value went down, and the two lesser MP potions he bought quickly ran out. Ivan was beyond frustrated when his MP ran out and he could do nothing but watch Mr. Logan’s HP value diminish. He had no choice but to stop and he knew that it was the end of the mission. However, with the healing from Ivan, Mr. Logan was still able to stand and resist the attacks from Mirage so she was confused when Ivan stopped healing her. 

Mr. Logan turned to Ivan, he looked back into her puzzled eyes, "Sorry, I have no MP left. Good luck!"

"MP?" Mr. Logan totally understood the awkward situation of a newbie like Ivan; however, she had no choice if she wanted to win this battle. Clenching her teeth to resist the mana of Mirage, Mr. Logan took out something from her pocket and then without saying a word threw it at Ivan.

Ivan saw a blue object coming toward him and many thoughts went through his mind, “Holy Artifact? Greater skills? Magical Scrolls?” 

Not thinking twice, Ivan immediately jumped up and grabbed the glowing blue object. He knew it had to be something really rare after he felt the smooth, never-ending power within it. He looked at the Stats. 

Broken Heart of Dharma (Epic)

An epic artifact created by some ancient God! Players can gain infinite MP with the heart of Dharma. It’s broken by a Demogorgon during a war.

Feature: Mana 100,000/100,000

Special effect: Repairable; common MP potion can refill the mana.

"Are you kidding me?" Ivan looked at the stats and shouted out with excitement. Although it wasn’t the Holy Artifact he expected, the Heart of Dharma was beyond what he had imagined. The most important thing was the nature of it, nothing could be better than infinite MP to heal. With it, he was sure he wouldn’t have to worry about MP again. Also, the fact that he had no cooling time and the Heart of Dharma, he felt numerous players in Rivalry were welcoming him. 

At this point, Mr. Logan started to talk again, "If you assist me to win this battle, the Heart of Dharma will be yours to keep!"

Heart of Dharma! I’m coming! Ivan thought to himself.
