Chapter 17Natalie sat at a glass conference table in her office at the Aethereus Palace and gazed at the city that shimmered in perpetual darkness outside of the tall windows. Futuristic, high-rise towers twisted and bent like vines as they reached towards the black unknown. Her new office was furnished modestly; a glass desk, in the shape of a boomerang, stood in the corner and faced the cityscape that sparkled outside of the tall windows. Squiggly-shaped chairs, outlined in neon-blue, dotted the polished floor and served as the only seating arrangement to the countless visitors she received on a day-to-day basis.
