Leaving Ami like that gutted me, but I didn’t have a choice. Right now, my father likely believed I had finally fallen in line with his commands. Let him think that. I'd hired the best legal team I could find to handle Ami’s case, and I was already en route to New York. But if he assumed my compliance was because of him, he couldn’t be more wrong. My presence on that plane had nothing to do with his orders and everything to do with the woman he’d called a liability.
Ami wasn’t a weakness. She wasn’t some mistake to be erased from the equation. Somewhere along the line, she’d become the axis around which my entire world spun my plans, my motives, my future... all of it had shifted because of her.
