THERON POV I sank into the chair in Lazaro’s office, rubbing both hands over my face as frustration thickened in my throat. “More rumors. No real answers,” I muttered, casting a glance at Lazaro and the two men flanking him. They silently entered and dropped the latest stack of reports on his desk. “You should get some rest,” Lazaro said as he approached, giving my shoulder a firm pat. “We’ll follow up on the rest of the leads.” “I was hoping to bring home at least one solid piece of information,” I replied, the bitterness curling in my voice. “Instead, it’s just more noise.
