Chapter 8

Carl's POV "How are you doing?" Dad asked me. "I'm fine Dad" I let out a smile. "It's been a week since you got your bloodsucker. And since you last stepped out of the pack house. The people are starting to get worried" Dad said as he looked at Mom who's standing silently behind him. "Just go out once," Dad whispered again. "Will it be okay?" I asked him while walking to my dressing table that had mirror I looked at myself and my eyes had a clear red rim around the eyeball. It would be evident to anyone that I am a bloodsucker. Why do I have such a bad fate? "There is a way you can cover it up," Mom said. She took out a pair of goggles which explains why her hands are behind her all the time she is here today. "Not again!" Dad sighed, irritated. "Again.? Did you-?" I asked dad, giving him all the attention. He just sighed before looking at me with a sad smile again. "I guess rare also comes with hardships. As you already know, I'm the powerful Lunar Wolf. And the whole supernatural race knows that the one with mismatched eyes, is the one" he paused looking at me. "My dad wanted me to wear goggles during Alpha Party and no one actually believed me when I said I was Alpha King Jaxon Malloy's son. That was how secret my whole existence till then was. Never did I know my son would be wearing goggles to cover his true identity" he let out a sad smile. "I'll accompany you. Let's go out now and show them their Prince is still there for them." Dad said with newfound energy in his voice. I couldn't help but hug him real tight. I don't even know how I could have managed this situation without him. I took the goggles from my mom and gave her a kiss on her cheek for which she just giggled while patting my back. I got the best parents. "Also, try communicating with your vampire every now and then. They can be useful sometimes" Mom said. I just nodded but I didn't want to. He is too hard to handle. On the other hand, I guess he never did something that would make me hate myself. He throws random nasty comments here and there about my lifestyle but that's alright. Because I follow a werewolf lifestyle and he being a bloodsucker, can't be okay with that. At the same time, sometimes he says how he hates being locked in werewolf land when it's clearly not his place. I mean, I get it bud but you gotta understand that that's how our lives have been made. "Hi?" I tried to speak to Raul. "Tell me what it is and leave. Nap time you ass" he said. Another reason why I don't like him, way too snarky!! It gets on my nerves most of the time. "Can you really sense a wolf along with you? Maybe any chances of late shifting?" I asked him. Without my wolf, I can't take up after my dad's title. Leaving no heir since I'm an only child. It may either go to Aiden since he is a Malloy as well. But that would lack proper ceremony considering his father is somewhere else. And it would also let my dad's pride a little down even though he likes Aiden. "Good night," Raul said, blocking me without an answer. This piece of demonic bull s**t!! "Ready?" Dad asked while I just nodded. I followed dad downstairs with Mom tailing behind. Layla and Jason were fighting in the living room for the remote control before the TV . I wonder what it would be like to have siblings sometimes. "Woah!" Jason whispered looking at me. He often says he can't wait to be the Beta to me. But he still got 8 years to train and become one. He is young. "We'll be back." Dad said and we just walked out. As we walked towards the pack's village people just kept on bowing and making way for us to just move forward with no one in their path. At the same time, once bowed and stood, the pack members affectionately looked at Dad and asked about his health and all. Everyone does love my dad. Will I be a King as good as him? Even close to it at the least? We were about to turn right but a young man stopped us. I recognise him to be one of the trainees in the defence category. "What?" Dad asked. "You aren't supposed to go that way King! It's a surprise!!" He said with his eyes to the ground. It is indeed disrespectful to look into higher rank wolves eyes while speaking to them. "Surprise?" Dad asked. "You'll know. But please don't go there, King. Please Prince!" He bowed to me this time. Dad and I just smiled. My pack members are planning something for us and we are very well excited to know what that is. "Alright! Are we invited for that surprise?" Dad asked playfully. "Of course King!! This is for our King and Prince after all. Actually, we are on our way to invite you for that surprise. Do come to the pack's clearing this evening. You'll definitely be proud and surprised" his voice beamed with excitement. Dad and I just nodded with smiles on our faces. "By the way Prince, the goggles look so cool on you. You look like a television actor" A young girl said as she blushed. "Oh really! I guess I got my Mom's genes then" I joked making dad playfully glare at me. I would describe myself as a six feet tall man, with tanned skin that is actually turning paler because of Raul. And I inherited my blue eyes from my Mom that often complimented my facial features. "We'll come back in the evening then" Dad said and everyone bowed again. Why exactly! There are people who are still older than us here. And even they are always bowing and showing necks in submission. I understand it's the rule and that's how it should be, but this attention is definitely not something I'll get used to. Dad and I went back to the pack house and I told Mom about the surprise invitation we received. What might it be? "The pack members are so sweet I can't wait to know what that is" Mom squealed.
