Chapter 0003
Emma lacked enthusiasm, instead of her zealousness was sorrow masked with a blank face. Her makeup was fair- barely bright, but sparkly enough to keep her beauty packaged and alive.
She strutted down the ornately dressed carpet, long white and lacy veil cascaded down all around her face. She glanced around the gathering, inspecting the familiar gazes eating her up as she walked her steps down the aisle.
Soon she stood opposite Nathan, who attempted to take off her veil that got Emma jerking away before his hand could touch her.
“Thanks, but I got it,” she mouthed audibly enough for him to register.
She took off the veil herself, unmasking the emotion welled into her eyes.
Today was a day she’s been looking forward to for a long while now, and she’s imagined how it’d be the best day of her life.
Never in her life did she think the day marked for her happiness would be the cause of the fervent anguish eating deep into her soul, body, and heart.
“Do you, Nathaniel Kors, take this beautiful young woman, Emma Tonks, to be your lawfully wedded wife. To love in health and sickness, to cherish and care for. Starting from now on till death do you both apart?”
The priest’s words rang harshly into Emma’s ears, tears threatened to spill out but she quickly controlled herself to force the tears back in.
“I do,” Nathan’s response came out loud and clear, pure excitement latched on to his tone.
“Do you, Emma Tonks, take this lovely young man, Nathaniel Kors to be your….” He rephrased the vow as he’s supposed to, both himself and the rest now anticipating Emma's response.
“I do not.” Came her cold response.
“Huh?” The priest’s brows were quick to merge in confusion.
Gentle murmurs began to rise in the crowd and fury mixed with shock settled straight into Nathan’s expression.
“I. Do. Not. Take this horrible young man to become my lawfully wedded husband,” Emma recapped her words more clearly.
She then proceeded to take off the ring he gave to her when he proposed and shoved it right into his chest before she turned around to face the crowd of paled face expressions.
“You all must be wondering why on earth I'm pulling this stunt right? Well wonder less because I do not intend to keep his filthiness a secret,” Emma began to address the crowd.
Nathan suddenly grabbed her shoulder as he pulled her close with his head leaned into her ear. “What are you doing? What’s all this? Is this what we agreed on?”
Emma jerked at his stomach aggressively, pleased with how he hurled back and away from her in pain.
“It was yesterday I decided to pay my boyfriend of over five years, fiancé of nearly two years, and my soon to be husband a visit at the company he works at. Usually I don’t visit him, and when I do I like to inform him of my visit beforehand. However, I stepped out of that habit yesterday. I paid him a visit only to catch my soon to be husband in act with his secretary, the woman that dared to show her face here!”
Emma was no longer trying to compose herself as she pointed out at the red haired lady sitting at the front row of the left side column.
Gasps flew loudly across the scene, head whipped around to take a glance at the lady Emma stuck her index out to.
“What? Why are you shocked? Did I not meet you yesterday?” Emma was appalled by the sight of her disbelief.
What was she trying to paint? That she’s innocent or being framed by her right now? Because those lips of hers pulled apart in shock better be for a different reason.
Emma glanced back at Nathan, barely concerned with the look on his face regarding her outburst.
“Am I lying? Or did I truly not just find out that you’re a lowlife scumbag who’s been attracted to my wealth ever since I told you the truth about who I am? Huh? Answer me!!!!”
“Emma, quit this madness?!” Nathan yelled out in an audible whisper. “Look I know I messed up, but you’re making this a bigger deal than it is. I don’t love her, it’s you I love, it’s you I’m marrying. I already apologize, can we please move on?”
“Unbelievable.” Emma huffed, followed by a painful chuckle as she stared Nathan down with a look of utter contempt.
“Could you all hear him?” She looked at the audience and back to the motive of her anger. “Could you hear him tell me not to make this a bigger deal than it is?That he’s apologized and we should move on!”
“Move on?” They were like foreign words to Emma, and a trigger sentence as her eyes went completely black. “Move on from my years of loyalty and dedication rewarded with betrayal?” She slammed her hand fisted around her wedding bouquet into his chest.
“Move on from the dreams I had of you shattered into nightmares?” Tears sprung free from her eyes as the liquid watered down her cheeks.
She continuously bangs at his chest as she curses out on him. Her crash out pitied and viewed under the light of pain and grief.
Soon the priest had to meddle and force himself between Emma and Nathan.
Emma sniffed, unable to keep the tear she’s so carefully concealed since from overflowing.
“I’m sorry. I’m sorry,” she pleaded with her eyes closed as she wiped gently on her stained cheeks.
“I guess I just want to let you all know that the girl we’d be marrying for Nathan isn’t going to be me and rather her. Fetch!” Emma whirled her gaze to settle on the red haired girl before she launched her wedding bouquet at her to catch.
“Marry him. I wish you both nothing but the worst possible fate that could happen to a human because you’re not that innocent, you knew he was in a relationship with me. Heck I was your goddamn boss before he came in to take my place. You both should rot in hell!” Emma raised her middle fingers up at her and at Nathan before she strutted into motion.
Her steps were elegant, guarded with aura as her hair bounced after each stir of her feet. Eyes followed after her movement padded with grace, delicately as she stormed for the exit.
To her, this might be over. Except for the twist of her pregnancy of course. However, this is far from over. In fact, this is the very beginning, and she’s in for a long ride.
