Jason’s POV
I lifted Cara into my arms, careful to support her neck with one hand as I started walking back to the cabin. She felt lighter than I expected, but maybe that was the adrenaline pumping through me.
And I tell you, it was pumping too high. I could literally feel it around my body as I moved.
I tried to move quickly, but every step felt like it took forever. The rain was still coming down, soaking both of us, but I didn’t care. All that mattered was getting her to safety. I was glad I had seen her and on the way back to the cabin, because this rainstorm would soon increase, I could tell from the angry thunders.
