I remained still for several minutes. My arms were still locked to the chain that hung from the ceiling high above my head. My feet were locked in cuffs with only a few inches of chain between them. I was helpless. I was at the mercy of someone totally unknown to me.
Then I got thinking. Was that all a dream? Had I fallen asleep? Was that whole thing real?
I reached around with my hands feeling for the key that would have hung right there just mere inches from my cuffed hands. There was nothing. Either the key hadn’t fallen yet or it wasn’t a dream. I had trouble figuring it out.
After a while I realized that I wasn’t dreaming. Someone was there and had brought me right to the very edge. Who was it? No one knew I was going to be home. I was supposed to be skiing in the Adirondacks. So
