Chapter Three --- He approached the kitchen to have breakfast, but as soon as he got close he heard the kitchen workers talking. The first worker: "Did he really give you all that money just because you told him a few things about Mr. Emad?" Emad paused and moved closer to listen carefully. The other worker laughed and said: "Yes." The first worker: "And when did this journalist come? Where was I? Or did you just want to keep all the money for yourself?!" Emad walked into the kitchen quickly: "What journalist are you talking about? And what things did you tell him?" The workers were startled. Emad stepped closer to them angrily, but he stopped when he heard a loud knocking on the door. He looked at the workers and said, threatening them with his finger: "We’ll talk about this later." Emad went out and opened the door, and there was the police standing at the doorway: "Mr. Emad Al-...?" Emad: "Yes, that’s me." The officer: "Please come with us to the station." Emad: "...? Alright." Emad went in, grabbed his things, and left with them. *And at the station...* The investigator: "Confess, Emad. It would be better for you." Emad: "I told you, I won’t say a word until my lawyer is here. And I won’t even call him until I know what I’m being charged with." The investigator handed Emad the newspaper: "Read what’s written in this article." Emad frowned, then took the newspaper and began to read it. Its content was: _"We all know the lawyer and small-time businessman Emad Al-...... From our private sources, we’ve learned that Mr. Emad Al-...... is holding a girl named Lara Abdullah at his house. And for those who don’t know who Lara Abdullah is... she’s a girl from a wealthy family. Her parents died in a fire a month ago, and she became the sole heir to all that fortune! What is it that connects this lawyer to this poor girl, who lost her mind after her family was killed in the fire? Could it be that he’s after what she owns?! Or could he be the mastermind behind everything that happened to her? A person as mentally unstable as her cannot protect herself or defend herself. That is why I am raising these questions, and appealing to the relevant authorities on her behalf to investigate. For perhaps we are all being deceived by the upper class, who would do anything for their greed and hunger for money. You’d be shocked by the lengths some of them would go to, no matter how inhumane and animalistic..."_ Emad didn’t finish reading the article. He flew into a rage and threw the newspaper onto the table, then took out a cigarette and lit it, trying to calm himself down.
