01. Dark Moon

757 Words
I must have crossed the Wolves territory. I froze in place, not daring to make a move.  'If they find me I'm done for' I thought to myself, inwardly cursing myself for not checking where I was running. Hell, I didn't even disguise myself they could probably smell me from a mile away. I heard paws scurry to ha halt Right in front of me. The sniffling sound echoed through my ears as the wolf was Standing right in front of me, only a piece of wood separating me and my inevitable death. With my eyes closed I prayed for another day spared from being a giant dog's snack as I heard a sound I could only describe as surprised. I creaked open one eye slightly and stared right into a pair of midnight blue eyes, surrounded by black fur. There he stood, staring at me through a hole in the log I had failed to notice earlier.  Despite the strong smell the nearing fire gave off I could clearly smell something else. Like freshly mown grass and something else I couldn't quite pinpoint.  My heart pounded a hundred miles a minute as I only stared back at him. Suddenly though he moved his head, his canines showing as he growled at what I assumed was another wolf that was with him. He glanced at me once more before turning and running off. I laid still for another minute or two, frozen in shock before my body shifted into action as I leaped out of the log and vomited my guts out. Panting and shivering i brushed my black hair back behind my shoulder, wiping my mouth with the back of my hand I felt my face contort into a mask of sheer disgust. I felt disgusting too. I needed a shower really badly. Food and water would be a nice addition to that, too. I haven't hat a bite in a week. ~*~ After aimlessly roaming the woods some more, this time more cautios as to where I'm headed I found what looked like a small Village. A  smile spread across my face as I internally fist bumped myself. It has been weeks since I saw some kind of civilization. Starting into a slow jog I approached the small Village. My beaming smile faded quickly as I realized that everything was completely vacant. Nobody was here.   I decided to sneak around a little, maybe finding some supplies or God help me, water for a shower. After scanning through multiple stores, I gathered a few things to eat and bottled water to drink. I even managed to get a backpack.  'Well, Kind of.', I thought as I looked down at my Ducky Momo backpack that I found at the kids section of a Supermarket. I shrugged and kept going, checking the normal houses for working showers. ~*~ After what seemed like hours of roaming I decided to give up and get going. I thought I saw a lake a bit behind that Village. That'll do. I trudged my feet a little, feeling tired. As the lake came into my view I gathered all my leftover strength and jumped into a sprint, leaving all my clothing and my new awesome backpack at the edge of the water before recklessly jumping in. The water was freezing on my skin, feeling like needles piercing through my skin but I couldn't feel more alive right now.  I dived through the whole length of the lake. I dove up for air and a small giggle left my lips. You learn to enjoy the small things after a while. I let myself float around the water for a while and as the sun began to set I made myself a makeshit bed and a little campfire to keep myself warm for the night. As I was busy trying to open a can of ravioli I noticed the night was darker than usual. I looked up to the sky only to see the moon almost completely dark. The color reminded me so much of the Wolf I saw earlier today. Drifting into thoughts about this, do I dare to say it- handsome Wolf. I stared into distance thinking about his captivating eyes and the smell of freshly mown grass. I must have a very vivid imagination as I began to smell this exact smell. I smiled dreamily, the smell somehow comforting me as I suddenly snapped my head up. I heard a twig c***k, my eyes tried to adjust to the unusual dark night as I saw it. A few feet away from me there stood a figure, staring at me. The only thing I could clearly see were it's eyes. They were midnight blue.
