Chapter 7: Unfocused- Part 1

814 Words
I started towards my class along with the rush of the other morning class students. I saw freshmen flustered unaware of where to go. I chuckled. I even saw some guy vaping and security watching him. I decided not to watch the wheels turn. I knew the protocol for vaping. It was barely a fine, and an after school detention with Mr. Edwards who would bore you with his love of baseball. I decided to check my phone once I took my seat in 3D Design There were a few kids already there with earbuds in and two guys talking to one another. I had about six minutes to kill. I decided to answer the mystery text. "Hey, nice to hear from you. Don't worry I don't bite. If you have any questions lmk! Also what's your name so I can put it in my phone? Chime* Chime* The two men behind me paused. "Hold on dude I got to answer this... and sent." they continued talking about the graphic design elements of some video game. *VVVT VVVT* "I'm Alex and damn I was hoping you did." I could feel his deep blue eyes on me as if the wheels in his head were turning. This man had to be nearly 6'6".. I started to feel my cheeks burn a little and butterflies in my stomach like when I first saw Zach Efron In Highschool Musical. "Lowlife of a man. Don't trust your measly guts." I looked around. There it was again.. why did it talk to me as if it were disgusted by me thinking kind of men. This man smelled wonderful. Idk how I could smell his scent from 10 feet away, but I felt as if he were the tastiest human alive. I wonder how his shirt would look on my bedroom floor. "Silencee!" It said. So I thought to myself, why should I listen to you, you aren't even real. without warning my arm slapped my cheek in front of everyone.. "Was that real enough for you? You ungrateful burden of a body..." Everyone being about 5 people looked up to make sure I was okay. My cheeks burned for a different reason now. I was embarrassed. I didn't want people to think I was crazy so I used both hands this time and slapped less hard, "Come on now, Wake up!" A couple people chuckled and went on with their conversation. It seemed to work. The bell rang and class started. Good morning, Students. Welcome back from your long summer break. I hope you all enjoyed yourselves. A murmur started of people saying what they did. "Alright!" silence fell upon the class. "Many of you know me by Mrs. Katy or Mrs. Hoffman, in this class you will call me Professor Hoffman or Dr. Hoffman." "What a priss." I snorted amongst the silence. "Excuse me, uh,-"Oh no. She looked down at her seating chart, "Jade is there something you intended to share, or am I wasting my breath asking right now?" "Sorry, Professor" I was again embarrassed and again I kept getting wafts of that same smell.. it was an earthy-mix between the beach and the forest. The sweet scent of pine and sea salt intermixed I could not focus. I felt unlike myself for the first time at school. After about 40 more minutes of her explaining this weeks research project she dismissed us. I put my stuff away I had about 40 minutes before my next class, so I went outside and puffed on my Dab pen. I was calmed so I pulled out my laptop and worked on the assignment that she posted. After a couple minutes the tall man sat at my table. "Is this seat taken? "No ...but so are none of the others." I said without looking up, more standoffish than I meant to be. I took my earbuds out and that scent came wafting towards me again until I was engulfed in it. He asked me, "So how's your first day back. Ik mine was a lil rough." "Um.. It was. okay-" man he is so good looking. "I'm sorry are you wearing a cologne of some sort it's hard for me to even think right now it smells so goo-" He cut me off saying, "You know I couldn't focus either today. I kept smelling this delicious coconut desert." He paused. "I think Ik what that smell was." He said smirking at me. "What is it?" I said. He grabbed my hand and pulled it close to his perfectly sculpted chin and kissed it breathing in my scent. I pulled my hand away confused. "Natural pheromones, you simple halfbreed." I looked at my watch it was time for me to go to my next class. We parted ways, but his charming manner stayed towards the front of my mind.
