Bonus Story: 22nd Century GenieThis was the original Simms story, published by the UK SF magazine Jupiter. Simms is recognizable in it, although many of the details of his world differ significantly. The jump network is here, as are Simms' brain-enhancement plugins, but there's no mention of the GMA or Forty Days or clONE or MegaMeta. The good news for Simms is that both Devi and Kelly are here (although Kelly is called Jen and Eloise, Purity).
The story and themes in 22nd Century Genie are similar to those in The Genehunter, although there is a slightly different tone to this earlier story. As you'll see, it's once again concerned with the recovery of the DNA of rock musicians, but in this story they are very well-known, real people. So well known that even Simms knows who they were...
