Audrey's Pov
"I think she passed out." I open my eyes slowly regaining my consciousness. I looked around my surroundings to see myself in what looked like Connor's car. I was in the back seat and beside me was Kylie. My head pounded through my ears, causing a great amount of pain and discomfort.
"What happened to her?" Aaron asked worriedly.
"Her drink was spiked by that guy waiter," Kylie responded and Aaron nodded in return.
"I don't know what that waiter was thinking, he isn't even good looking what mad-" what made him think that he wasn't good looking?
"Hey for your information that waiter is hot, oh god, his hair...his smile was breathtaking just thinking about it gives butterflies to my stomach," I slurred out. Half of it was a lie because I felt that way whenever I was with Connor. I smiled brightly as I saw Connor's hands tighten on the wheel. The way he glared at the cars in front of him satisfied me, but I wondered why would he be jealous in the first place.
"Are you jealous?" I asked Connor and he scoffed.
"Why on earth would I be jealous?" he asked.
"Because even you know that the guy from the dinner is hotter than you," I said while laughing. He rolled his eyes, ignoring me, and continued to drive.
"Does she tell the truth when she's drunk?" Aaron grew amused as to how I was behaving.
"I'm not sure, this is the first time she ever got drunk." Kylie's cheeks slightly reddened, my jaw dropped slightly at the sight she was flustered. I threw my body to the other side of the car so that I could get closer to Kylie.
"Are you blushing?" I questioned as I poked her cheeks. Aaron immediately turned around and sat forward. I moved to the left slightly so that I could get a quick glimpse at Aaron's face as well, but I couldn't see him. Giving up, I put my head against Kylie's lap as my eyes closed off again. A phone rang interrupting my nap session and it continued to ring, making me get up due to its annoying blaring.
"Can one of you please pick up your damn phone, I'm trying to sleep." I ruffled my hair as the headache continued to get worse. The pain was getting to me, making me very aggravated.
"Audrey, it's your phone." Kylie said and my mouth formed into an 'o' as I grabbed my phone that was beside me. It was my mother, oh god, what did she want.
"Where are you, Audriana? Are you okay?" she asked with fake concern. What is she up to now?
"Haha, you're funny, mother. Go show this fake concern to someone else I don't have time for this. I was trying to sleep, until rudely interrupted me," I spat angrily.
"Sweetie, I'm not sure what you're talking about." I chuckled knowing what she was talking about.
"Cut the crap, what do you want? You want something, what is it?" I questioned. I've never talked to them this way even if they treat me horribly. Sober Audrey would never have the courage to say any of this or even dare.
"You're getting better at this, anyways, you're right I thought I would have to sweet talk my way and tell you. Normally, you'd fall for it because you are gullible. Your grandfather wants you to go-" The angry-sad tears that I was holding in were finally letting loose. I'm not strong and I never will be. The pain that she's giving me is slowly tearing me apart. I held onto my chest tightly trying to control my breathing but it hurt so much. Why can't she for once tell me that she loves me? That she will support me with whatever decision? Why can't she just accept me.
"What have I done wrong? Tell me." I breathed out. I sit up straight against my seat and close my eyes. Breathe, Audrey. Take it easy, everything will be alright.
"I don't know what you're talking about and to be honest with you I don't really care." I nodded to myself understanding but I needed to know.
"Mommy, please tell me. I want to know because I can't live like this anymore. It hurts so much." I whimpered. I felt uneasy releasing all my emotions and feelings that I've bottled up all my life. I felt someone take my phone away and I didn't do anything to stop them.
"Hello, Audrey isn't feeling well. I'll explain it when we come back home." Why is Kylie telling her that? I realized this was my only chance to tell my mother how I felt. She ended the call and looked at me.
"Why are you looking at me that way?" She asked. I shut my eyes tightly and let the pain that I've been holding in for the longest time out.
"This was my only chance, Kylie. I should have told her I should have.." I just wanted to know why my mother hates me. I wanted her to know that she was hurting me. I wanted to know why she can't love me the way she loves Rachel. Kylie's eyes slightly teared up at my sight, can you blame her this is the second time she is seeing me cry. She doesn't know what I've been through and I refuse to tell her because I didn't want her to see me differently. I wanted to be strong in their eyes even if I didn't feel it inside. In reality, I was slowly dying in front of their eyes. The things my parents did to me when I was younger had stained me, I felt like a homeless child even though I had a home. In the big mansion, I felt like a piece of garbage that is meant to be thrown away.
"Come here, don't cry." Kylie grabbed me and hugged me tightly, not letting me go.
"It hurts so much, Kylie, it won't stop." My heart clenched tightly as if it was tied with ropes.
"Kylie-" I rested my face against Kylie's shoulder as she hugged me tightly.
"Shh, don't talk it's okay." She rubbed my back trying to calm me down and it was making me a bit drowsy. My surroundings dimmed down slowly reaching a color black. My eyelids are feeling heavy and feet numb leaving me in bliss as I close my eyes.
Connor Pov
Guilt. After seeing her vulnerable, I couldn't help but feel my heart tighten in pain. I've been rude to her the past couple of days and never thought once that she may have other problems of her own. The way she cried out in pain made me feel even worse. I shouldn't have treated her the way I did and I didn't know what to do.
I parked my car outside Aaron's house.
"The guys are coming over, you can come after you drop them off." I nod and Aaron gets out of the car but Kylie stops him.
"Aaron by any chance do you have a hose?" Kylie asked curiously. Aaron looked at me confused and nodded his head unsurely.
"Can I borrow it?" She asked and got out of the car.
"I do-"
"Thank you!" She interrupted him before he could say anything she went to the other side of the car. She grabbed Audrey and pulled her up, but she fell on the ground. I jumped out of the car to see if Audrey was hurt or not.
"Kylie, are you mad?" I questioned and she rolled her eyes.
"Here, you hold her." She practically threw Audrey at me and I quickly grabbed her as her head laid against my chest.
"Pick her up and take her to Aaron's lawn." Kylie instructed me. Why is she telling me what to do?
"Why should I listen to you? Here, you take her." I pushed her towards Kylie and she grabbed Audrey almost making her fall.
"What are you doing, Connor? I'm not that strong, which is why I told you to pick her up, hence which is why you will pick her up." She pushed Audrey back to me and I quickly secured my arms around her waist holding her up.
"Fine." I said gruffly and picked her bridal style. She curled up closer to me as she slept peacefully. A small smile played along my lips, I have to admit she looked quite adorable. I walked towards the lawn and looked around where did she go?
"Kylie, I-" Kylie sprayed water on us, which made Audrey jolt up in surprise. I pulled Audrey close to me so that she wouldn't fall. She held onto me tightly and opened her eyes as the water splashed onto us.
"Really? Why did you spray me?" I asked slightly angry as she continued to spray water on me.
"How else could I spray, Audrey, dimwit." Kylie said while laughing. Why didn't she as- Aaron was standing next to Kylie taking a goddamn video that's why she didn't ask him. Audrey shook around in my arms and her eyes widened as she looked at my arms. I held her as we both got sprayed, but she jolted out of my arms scaring me. I guess she is sober now.
"Kylie, if I were you I'd run." Audrey said angrily. I was taken aback by her tone, but Kylie wasn't.
"Aw, what are you gonna do? Break my pencil? Girl, try me, I'm not scared." Kylie said while laughing. She took one step forward and Kylie's smile disappeared.
"Audrey, why don't we talk about this?" She asked but Audrey didn't waste any time and launched towards Kylie. I chuckled as she playfully fought with Kylie. Audrey, must have said or done something but Kylie dropped the hose.
"Hey, you tricked me." Kylie frowned, making Audrey laugh. This is the first time I heard her laugh. It was sweet and angelic. I got out of their way and walked towards Aaron.
"Hey, Aaron, can I borrow a towel?" I asked and nodded.
"Before I give you one, I'm going to turn off the water before they spray throughout the whole entire neighborhood." I nod agreeing with Aaron. He turned off the water and went inside to get the towel. Audrey was currently sitting on Kylie I guess tackling her in a way. I took my shirt off and attempted to dry myself but failed to do so. I look back to see them hugging. What? Weren't they just- I'm not even going to ask.
"I don't think she is faking. I only agreed with you back there because I knew that if I continued Ryder would have gotten mad. I know the difference between right and wrong. What you are all doing to her is wrong. I will continue with my own judgement, even if I didn't know the person I would make my own but the question is will you?" Aaron asked. Why would Sarah tell me then? And that incident that happened at Sarah's, what did that mean? Should I not take it into consideration and believe whatever Audrey says?
I wanted to ask him but Audrey and Kylie came while smiling but when Audrey looked at me her smile went away. She stood up straight slightly uncomfortable, what just happened?
"Thanks for the hose, man." Kylie laughed and Aaron smiled, nodded and muttered "anytime".
"Just wait until we get home." Audrey glared at Kylie playfully. Audrey's phone rang and looked a bit uneasy as she looked at her phone.
"Sorry, excuse me." She said and walked away.
"Hey, don't mention the incident that happened at the diner. She is already stressed out and reminding her will only make it worse." Aaron and I both nodded understanding.
"Anyways, what are you going to do for her birthday then?" Aaron asked. Kylie seemed uneasy by this question but answered it.
"She doesn't like celebrating her birthday." Kylie said.
"How come?" Aaron asked.
"She won't tell me the real reason, but she tells everyone that it's a waste of time." Kylie sighed.
She doesn't celebrate? When was the last time she celebrated and why would she hate birthdays? Did something happen? The more I found out about Audrey I couldn't help but wonder. She is like a mystery unsolved and I wanted to solve it even though I shouldn't.
"We need to g,." Audrey said in a serious tone. She looked at me, but then quickly looked away. Is she avoiding me? If so, isn't that a good thing? But why do I feel so uneasy about her ignoring me? It bothered me as she looked away from me.
She held onto her arms tightly as she clenched her teeth.
"Here, you can use my towel." She looked down at my hand and then at me deciding whether or not she should take it. I practically shoved the towel in her hands making the decision for her and she muttered a quick small thank you. Her breath slightly hitched and she looked away. Her cheeks slightly reddened. Why is she blushing? Is something wrong with me? I looked down at myself realizing that I wasn't wearing a shirt. I smiled internally at her cute reaction.
"Hey, can I borrow a shirt?" Aaron's eyes widened slightly. He opened his mouth slightly but then shut it.
"Um, all my clothes are getting washed at the moment." I knew the moment he said that he was lying because he never does his laundry.
"Since when did you do your laundry?" I asked.
"Since no-november I mean it has been a couple months now. Yep, that's it." He said and smiled, I've got to admit, although he almost exposed himself it was smooth.
"Oh I see, so you mix your dark and light clothes together?" I questioned catching him off guard.
"Hold up, you wash all your clothes at the same time?" Audrey asked, amused.
"Yeah because-" Kylie cut Aaron off and stood beside him.
"Why are you questioning him? I do the same thing," Kylie said, defending Aaron. He smiled at Kylie and she nodded shyly. Wow there, what am I missing? An idea popped up in my head, well, this is going to be fun.
"Mixing both loads together? It doesn't even make any sense, Kylie," Audrey said, trying to reason with them.
"Oh, and Aaron I was at your house yesterday your mom said she was doing your laundry."
Caught you. I completely forgot about his mother coming into his room.
"But-Fine I don't want you to borrow any of my things because you never return them." Aaron sighed.
"What are you talking about? I do return your stuff," I said unsure as to what he was talking about.
"Majority of my closet that used to be full is missing. I literally have to wear the same shirt twice a week. I don't want to buy more because I'm scared that it will end up in your closet," Aaron said and Kylie slapped his arm lightly.
"Same here. Audrey borrows a lot of things from me as well. Like, the outfit she is currently wearing is mine," Kylie said.
"I'm borrowing them." Kylie chuckled and gave her a look.
"It's been five months."
"You two are the same. You both borrow things and never give them back. Trolls I say," Kylie said and Aaron nodded agreeing with her.
"It's not as bad as you eating. Don't even get me started about how you are a messy eater." Audrey shuddered as if she recalled a memory.
"Same with Aaron, he eats as if he is a bear that has been hibernating for years. He eats whatever he wants and doesn't care where the food goes as long as it goes to his stomach." Audrey burst out laughing and I chuckled at the memory as well. Both Aaron and Kylie were in shock as they stared at us.
Audrey and I high fived and once we settled down they were both smirking at us. Audrey and I looked at each other, confused as to why they were laughing. She took a step forward towards Kylie but tripped on nothing slightly pulling me towards her. That's why they were laughing. Audrey turns around and looks down at our hands that were currently intertwined. She took a step back and almost fell so I grabbed her arm and pulled her towards me. Her breathing was slightly heavy, making me smile.
"You're so clumsy," I muttered so that she could hear only. Her eyes were mesmerizing and I couldn't help but stare at them.
"My poor eyes, I can't take it anymore," Aaron said dramatically and covered his eyes.
"I know right, just because you guys are getting married. It doesn't mean you can do PDA in front of children. We both are scarred now," Kylie said dramatically, both covering their eyes.
"What are you talking about?" They both peeked through their hands, looked at each other, and then pointed at our bodies.
My left hand is intertwined with hers and my right hand holds her arm. We both were standing awfully close to one another. She unlaced our hands and took a couple steps back acting as if nothing happened.
"Well you look at the time. My sister is calling and the last time we talked to one another was a couple of months ago. Bye." He waved us off and went inside his house.
"What sister?" I asked. His sister? He doesn't have a sister. If he didn't want me to borrow a shirt he should have told me right in the beginning.
"Okay let's go," I said and Kylie grabbed Audrey's arm stopping her from going.
"Can you get my purse?" Kylie asked and Audrey nodded. Within seconds Kylie ran towards the van.
"Wait, what purse?" Audrey asked and turned around to see her sitting in the back. She locked the doors so that she couldn't sit down in the back. I opened the truck and grabbed my hoodie and went to the driver's seat.
"Oh just wait Kylie j-" she stopped once she got to the car. She coughed and straightened herself.
"As if you'd do anything you can't even hurt a fly." Kylie said. Audrey nodded and shifted uncomfortably. What happened two minutes ago she was okay but now she isn't? Is it because of me? She sat down in the passenger's seat and I handed her my hoodie. She stared at my hands then at my face contemplating whether or not she should take it. Sighing, maybe this wasn't a good idea. I was going to throw it on the back seat, but she grabbed it muttering a small thank you.
I smiled unintentionally, making her blush. I felt giddy for no reason at all, I shook my head getting rid of her from my head.
I couldn't help but wonder what happened and what Aaron said. If it is all a misunderstanding then what should I do? How do I tell Sarah? Once we reached Audrey's house everyone was there. I look at Audrey to find her surprised as well.
We make our way inside to find not only our families, but Sarah's family as well and lets just say she didn't look happy at all.
"Why are you two wet?" a teasing smile played along my mother's lips. Audrey's face reddened and looked away shyly.
"It's been two days and you two are already attached to one another?" Everyone laughed but we didn't. I slightly felt uncomfortable and took a step away from her.
"Okay, both of you have to get ready because we are leaving in an hour," my mom said.
"Where are we going?" Audrey asked.
"We are going to celebrate your birthday and announce your engagement!" Lauren says excitedly. I wanted to say something about that we should postpone the engagement to a later time but I knew better. Audrey's eyebrows slightly furrowed as she clenched her hands tightly.
"N-No we can't announce it just yet," Audrey stutters out.
"How come?" Lauren asked in confusion.
"It seems a bit too early don't you think?" Audrey stares into Lauren's eyes pleading with her to agree with her and my mother nods. Making Audrey smile a little.
"I don't think that's-" Lauren cut her mother off and told her that it was okay.
"She is the birthday girl! What she says goes, but as of right now both of you get ready so that we can go." Audrey smiled tightly and nodded.
"Grandpa, can we talk?" Audrey asked and he nodded. She walked past me but looked up at me and whispered, "I'm going to talk to him, don't worry." She gave a small smile and went into a room with her grandpa. I look back to see Sarah, her face hardened as she glared at Audrey. I wanted to comfort her, but knowing my family, they won't want me to spend any time with Sarah.
Is Sarah wrong? Was it all just a misunderstanding after all?
