Chapter 51- Compromise

The rain was just about gone by the time the funeral was over. Our old shining friend peeked behind the clouds as everyone chatted and dispersed to their various ways. Cameron still hadn’t said a word to me, which was okay. I didn’t expect him to. I did, however, hold onto him throughout the entire service, just to be the support he needed. The wet clothes felt like leeches on my body, but I didn’t mind one bit. I simply stood a side as I watched him talk and converse with everyone as they expressed condolences and bid happy wishes. He smiled politely and actually in gratitude at each of them, but I knew he didn’t want to go back to his huge empty house, knowing his mom won’t be there. I planned to have my turn with him too, but I was patient as I waited on the crowd to dwindle down.
